app.emby.media - Not Secured

Recommended Posts

Why is app.emby.media now throwing a message about not secure.

Is it not running over https anymore? My server itself only allows over https, so I'm confused what's going on here.

Hi, nothing has changed. Just make sure that you're using the https version at https://app.emby.media

Thanks.

When I try that, the website hangs with the logo "emby" on it.

I've tried this over my phone via LTE to, same result.

If I browse to my domain directory via https, it works.

Seems to be working OK from here. I would try clearing browsing data and see if that helps.

Best guess would be cached information as it opens instantly for me.

Looks like something is going on with Letsencrypt certificates...

Yeah, I'm not sure how to fix this yet. I've re-generated the certificate which is now using "ISRG Root X1".

My web browsers on my PC are fine, but on my iPhone 10, it's throwing certificate issues.

As for https://app.emby.media. It just sits there no matter what browser I am using, LTE, wireless etc.

Not sure what's going on?

Have you updated your iphone to latest firmware and also using the latest browser? it is not a cert problem, it is a device problem in most cases.

  • iPhone 5 and above can upgrade to iOS 10 and can thus trust ISRG Root X1
  • if your iphone is using iOS10 or above update your browser apps.

known incompatible devices:

  • Blackberry < v10.3.3
  • Android < v2.3.6
  • Nintendo 3DS
  • Windows XP vor SP3 (can't use SHA-2  certs)
  • Java 7 < 7u111
  • Java 8 < 8u101
  • Windows Live Mail (2012 Mail-Client, can't handle certs without CRL )
  • PS3
  • PS4 Firmware < 5.00

Done all of this. I've issued a brand new certificate at a new domain name too. Still the same issue on my phone regarding certs.

As for app.emby.media, this appears to be happening on multiple browers, multiple internet circuits, etc. It just spins.

ok but this is strange, especially app.emby.media as it is not using Let's Encrypt so this could not be the issue. Have you checked the Date on your device?

I understand that, I'm just listing two different problems I'm facing. I'm also watching the forums at letsencrypt and somebody mentioned they get the same certificate trust issues on their apple product. (Hence why some of my family that has apple tv's are possibly failing. More to come there.)

As for https://app.emby.media just sitting there. Beyond me why it just sits there. I've cleared all cache on all my browers. I've also tried three different VM's with no history of going to this website. Lastly I've tried different Internet circuits. One LTE, my home, and over VPN.

can you try firefox on your phone? It should work as it ignores bad certificates.

How long have you waited?  I have seen it sit there for say a minute, but don't believe I have ever waited longer then that.

Mine resolves but don't know if this error matters @Luke

Sat there for minutes, maybe 10 while I was multi-tasking. It never comes up.

Just tired at a family members house. Same results, the logo just sits there.

If you're still using LE certs on your server would app.emby.media have trouble connecting there? I don't use it but if app.emby.media is a proxy then it itself is a client which has to validate the encrypted connection. Is this the case?
