Server Crashing after Latest Update

Hello All,

I am racking my brains out trying to sort this out.

I keep getting a new guard page error, then Emby and Chrome Crashes.

My Motherboard and Memory Test out Fine.

I have a hardware raid 5 with windows pooling setup for my main Storage(mechanical) 4 - 2 tb drives - i am hoping their not failing, but want to have you guys check the logs.

I deleted chrome (too many bugs) and switched to Opera and it appeared to be working fine until I woke up to an unresponsive server this morning - Needed a hard shutdown to recover!

I purchased new ssd drives to replace the possible dying Mechanical raid drives

Can someone check the attached server & Hardware detection logs and let me know your thoughts?

Hello Luke,

Browser & windows(explorer)  becomes unresponsive... if I catch it, I can kill Emby and browser with Task manager and restart both

This morning I just launched Emby and went to the dashboard with Opera browser and Emby only running, and within 15 minutes I got the new guard page error.

The browser was frozen and Emby was not accessible from any devices, and if i tried to left click and launch browser. it would not load!

As a test, I only opened Opera (no Emby) ,and it has been open playing YouTube videos consecutively since I posted about 2 hours.

I am a 25 year IT Manager that is very familiar with Servers and how they should work. Windows has not reported any errors other than a read write error on my raid a week ago

That is why I posted the logs to see if you can see anything out of Sorts with Emby.

OK, please try removing these plugins:

	Addic7ed 1.0.8.0
	CoverArt 4.1.16.0
	Email Notifications 3.1.6.0
	Security Cam Live 1.0.6398.32289
	Statistics 2.0.20.0
	Xml Metadata 3.4.6.0

Then restart the server and see if it helps. Thanks.

I have Uninstalled all the plugins you requested and restarted.

I will report back if that fixes it.

That's just a black screen. That doesn't mean that it crashed. Do you see anything in windows event viewer?

I was showing you the crashed opera browser(dark theme), then i showed the same crashed browser with task manager on top of it!!

something in Emby is causing the browser to crash and become unusable!!!

task Manager wont kill the browser, and i have to reboot to gain access back to the server

Server and Hardware detection logs were attached -

What is your thought process on Emby causing my server to become unstable and Crash!!????

So are you saying Emby works in other browsers beside Opera?

Image still show Emby running or at least the tray icon.

Hello Happy,

 

I initially thought is was a chrome issue, so i deleted it and loaded Opera.

no matter which browser i set, i f I don’t launch Emby server, browser’s work fine.

When the server is running(since latest update) it will just crash the browser (whichever 1 i set as default) it just goes Grey or blank(frozen, unresponsive)

but if i just use any browser alone without Emby running the browser works perfectly fine!

I don’t understand your logs(posted multiple times) - do you guys not see something weird happening?

I am confused on the title as this release has been out for 3 months so what are you calling the latest update?

There is not really anything in the log that I can see.

That update only showed up on my server dashboard to be installed last week, it has only been crashing since I let Emby do its update last week

Opera uses the Chromium engine, so that doesn't really tell much if the browser is the issue.

You are saying if Emby is running, and you start browsing the web (w/o connecting to Emby) 'it' crashes, but if you do the same thing w/o Emby running you never see a crash?

It sounds like possible hardware or driver issue to me, where Emby is hitting something that only it would hit.  Did you verify the condition of the OS?

Emby people:  Would uninstall/reinstall be advised?  Are the XML errors in the log benign?  What about this from the server log?

Hello Justin,

 

If i just use the browser(opera) My Server(pc) run normally, but, if i launch Emby server(icon in system tray) and click to browse Emby or configure Emby, it will launch and opera window showing my Emby dashboard and Crash.

it is acting like the browser and Emby are eating up all the memory until my server becomes unresponsive

Good info.  Testing the memory theory/symptom is easy.  Have you looked at Task Mgr to see what is going on (memory, CPU, disk I/O) after you connect to Emby?

I Went as far as ordering new SSD drives to replace the mechanical drives in case one of the drives or the raid is wigging things out.

Weird thing is the only thing on Raid is my Movies and music

Weird that the raid only gets a request when Emby calls for a movie or Music

Raid is idle, until i launch a move then you hear them all ramp up.

Unless the controller went bad, but new drives are coming

System is unusable(unstable) task manager launches, but, goes grey and you cant click anything
