Why not launch the single device version? I want to buy the lifetime version, but I only have one device. I don't want to buy it with others.

Which device? Server is free, as is browser access, as long you don't need some of the Premiere features. You can Unlock (one-time fee) several client apps, enabling unrestricted playback. For other features, check Feature Matrix:

Web browsers, Roku, Apple TV, LG & Samsung Smart TVs, Kodi, Xbox One or PS4 Consoles all have free playback so those would work for $0.00

iOS and Android mobile, Android TV or Fire TV can all be unlocked in the app itself for full playback. The cost of this unlock is roughly $5 for a lifetime license tied to your store account. So if you had 3 Fire TVs in the house all logged in with the same store ID (you) then only one unlock payment is needed.  You unlock on the first device, then restore license on the other devices.

Emby Theater (Store or Desktop), Alexa or Google Home only work with a Premiere Licensed Emby Server.
