As you know, I've been planning to upgrade my little server...so, the machine arrived, and as was suggested, I installed EMBY to it, then copied the latest backup file from my old machine and plugged all my external hard drives to it...the new machine is practically a twin of the previous one...it has 32 gb of RAM rather than 16, an i7 processor instead of an i5 and a 1 tb ssd drive instead of a regular drive... So, once EMBY got everything scraped fresh (SOME drives were no longer the same drive letter) I try to access my new server from my nVidia Plus streaming box, which has EMBY for Android running on it...it sees the OLD content, no problem, but a whole bunch of movie posters no longer display. Further to that, none of my content contained on the server will play...yet, the trailers channel plays no problem...obviously because the content is not on the computer but is downloaded from the internet... I've checked and double-checked all my network and my firewall settings and cannot see what could be preventing MY content from playing... And before you ask, yes, it WAS playing properly before I upgraded the server, and yes, I have a lifetime Premiere subscription... Surely, I've missed a setting somewhere or SOMETHING, but it seems no matter what I try, it just won't work!!! Anything ANYONE can suggest??? I am panicking, worried that I might have to start all over, from scratch...please, if there is ANYTHING you can suggest!!! I'll upload the log files in the morning once I have access to the machine... Thanks in advance!!!! Gerry

Because you restored you backup server configuration, Emby is looking for your media (and images if they were stored there too) in those old locations. Can you try going into your Library Settings and ensuring all the paths per library are reflecting the new locations (new drive letters)? Happy2Play 9783 Posted September 28, 2021 Posted September 28, 2021 (edited) Unless you realign the drive letters you will have this issue as your data is in the database with a specific path. All of your copied configs will have your original drive letters also. So your options are reassigning drive letters or removing all libraries and readding them with the new path. I have always use UNC shares with emby as it makes life so much more portable with not only library settings, but also general administration. Simply setup a share on the same machine - so d:\ becomes \\machine-name\TV-shows e:\ becomes \\machine-name\Movies use the UNC name in the library instead - and now you can map whatever you like to it without the need to change emby ever again. The bonus is now you have a share - so on another machine or the same machine if you wish - you can use \\machine-name\TV-shows and you will get access to that share (drive) remotely. To note, access on the same machine does not go through the network - so there is zero performance penalty for doing this vs using antiquated drive letters. 1

I did end up figuring it out on my own...stupid me, left my OLD server on the same network...I intend to use it for other purposes...BUT...I had forgotten to tell EMBY *NOT* to load at startup on the OLD server, so both machines were trying to push the same content to the poor streaming box, and *it* simply didn't know WHAT to stream...so, I turned that option off, rebooted both machines, and "lo and behold"...everything works again!!! Now, I have to check ALL my network settings!!!...I'm afraid I may have left my network vulnerable...would any of you kind experts be so generous as to guide me as to which settings SHOULD be activated or not, to protect it from "outside influence", let's say?...and before you ask, I do NOT share access with anyone outside my own little private network... Oh, and can a VPN run safely alongside EMBY? I am a legal owner of NordVPN ...if so, are there any network/firewall settings that need to change? Again, thanks for being there for dummies like me, and thanks in advance for any help you CAN provide!!! Gerry... "Long live EMBY!!!"

Just one little hiccup...I can't get my "Collections" folder to display correctly...it used to display like the other folders, it had a graphic of 4 arbitrarily selected movie covers...now, it just displays a basic graphic of a folder...can anyone guide me to getting the previous graphic back??? Thanks in advance guys!!! Gerry

It will then generate one for you from the movies covers - this may take a while to appear but it will happen 1
Happy2Play 9783 Posted October 3, 2021 Posted October 3, 2021 Possibly apply a custom image then delete it, but many need to see a server log as I did see a issue on a test system where the old collection path wasn't allowing dynamic images to be made for Collections.
