EmbyServer does not support connecting a device

Good evening.
It seems that lately everything happens to me with emby, and only strange things.

Since yesterday I find that no matter how much I try to connect to the server with a Xiaomi MiStick it always tells me the wrong ID and password.

I have uninstalled the app (clearing cache and data) and reinstalled, and it follows the same message.
I have even removed the user's password, and it keeps giving me the same error.
I have tried with all the users that I have and with all of them it gives me an error.

At that point, it seems as if emby rejected that device, as if it had been blacklisted. But I don't see that there is an automatic option.

As always, thanks for the help

Hi, is this your emby server, or someone else's server?

Good Morning,

My own server.
Yesterday I happened to comment on some important points:

  • If I connect to the same server using a mobile, computer or MiBoxS, I can login witch all users without problems, only with the MiStick it gives me the message of the wrong ID or password.
  • If I look at the alerts, I don't even get the failed attempt notice

Regards

Have you tried rebooting MiStick?

Do you maybe have some IP conflict in your network? Does MiStick have static or DHCP-assigned IP?

It has dynamic IP, and it gives me the problem both outside the home (which has been where I have noticed), and now that I am within the home network.

Heck, that's a strange one. Does same happen now when you enter your server local IP:port manually?

The ip of the device is always dynamic, since I use it both outside and at home.
The server address is by ddns for the same reason.

Connect connects, because I see the users. Even when I remove the password from one, it no longer shows me the lock.
But nevertheless it always tells me wrong ID or password.

Roger, understood your usage case, was just interested whether it will connect directly or is still refused.

As a test, could you enable DLNA server and DL some app (like DLNA Channels) on MiStick, to see whether it will pass you anything that way?

Hi.  On the login page, there should be a button to send the log.  Can you get the failed attempt and then press that button?  Then come here and tell me exactly what time you did that.

Thanks.

Please also attach the server log from that same time.

Thanks.

I've got a couple of things you can try.

First on the server go to the devices menu and find this device and remove it.  It helps if you rename devices when you see them used without a name ie "Shield TV - Carlo".

Try logging in again now of the device.  If that doesn't work try removing the server from the device and manually setting it up.
Then try logging in again.

In either case do you see any activity on the server dashboard related to this device?

sorry, I did a lot of tests and some have passed me commenting.
As I thought it could be that emby had blocked the device, I did what you say: delete the device from my list.

I deleted it and it no longer reappears to me as a device.
It had the custom name.

Later I do the logs thing

Yes, try connecting again and then send the server log when you get a chance.
Are you using Emby Connect to connect or do you have the server manually setup on the MiBox?

Attempt made, about 21:41

I have the server address set at hand, I don't use Emby Connect

Hi.  I notice you are on port 80. Is a proxy involved?

From the app side, we are getting a 401 which I also see being sent from the server due to:

2021-09-27 21:41:13.482 Error Server: Access token is invalid or expired.

Is something possibly stripping headers?  Also, looks like you are on a local device but accessing via the remote address.

Correct i use nginx as reverse proxy. But with a computer or a mobile I access the same and it does not give me an error.

Indeed, right now I am on the local network, but I have DDNS in the application, since it is a device that I use both at home and abroad.

Have you customized any emby server network settings?

Hi.  Some of the other apps put auth information on the actual url instead of in the headers so may mask this issue.  I would check your nginx config to be sure it is correct.  @pir8radio may be able to help with that.

As a test, can you enter the local IP address manually in the app and see if that works?

It's installed in docker, it showed me the IP of the container as that of the server.
I have changed the local IP by hand, to indicate the one of the computer that acts as the server.

The point is that only the MiStick gives me problems, if it were a proxy problem, it would also give me problems with mobile phones and computers when I'm off the network, right?
