candycane13 1 Posted September 25, 2021 Posted September 25, 2021 For some reason, some TV series metadata with the wrong information won't update manually if I try and change it to the correct information. I'll update IMDB, TVDB and TMDB with the correct info and every time I hit refresh metadata, it replaces the information I just inputted to the original and wrong information that it had originally. I've used Emby for years and this has never been an issue so I'm not sure what the problem is. I'm not sure if this is relevant or not, but I updated my NAS 918 a couple days ago to DSM 7. Is it a coincidence? I'm not sure, but I know this was never an issue prior to the upgrade. Also, there is not an issue with the movie metadata, just the tv series. Movies will update correctly with the actors, posters and so. What should I try or change to fix this issue. Thanks.
Carlo 4561 Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 Hi, if you mean you go out to these sites and update the info it will take a few days to be available assuming it's approved. However, you can change the data to anything you want in Emby and lock the field so it can't be updated. Can you go over a specific show/episode that you think is wrong?
candycane13 1 Posted September 26, 2021 Author Posted September 26, 2021 For instance, normally when I see a show that has the wrong cover or information, I check IDMB, TMDB and TVDB to see if they are the same as the one Emby metadata external Id lists. If they are different, I use the ones listed from the websites, hit save and then refresh metadata. It normally changes and updates to the new inputted metadata and Ids almost instantly. When I have tried doing it now, it never changes to the new inputted information. It doesn't even accept the new info. When I hit refresh, then recheck that the new info I put in is there or updated, its not. The new information is nowhere to be found. It reverts to what was originally listed. For instance, here are some incorrect shows that don't update when I provide it the correct data. It should be "Outcasts" (2010) instead it shows The Outcast (1968) / It should be "The Incredible Hulk" (1977) instead shows The Incredible Hulk (1986). For example, This screenshot shows the incorrect Ids I cannot change for Outcasts. The correct Ids are tt1697793 (IDMB) and 34438 (TMDB)
Luke 42078 Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 Hi there, are you sure you're clicking save after editing?
candycane13 1 Posted September 26, 2021 Author Posted September 26, 2021 I'm sure. I tried to get it to work so many times, I've lost count. I've been using Emby for years, doing it the same way and suddenly had this issue. Not sure why.
Luke 42078 Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 OK, please attach the emby server log from when this happened. Thanks.
candycane13 1 Posted September 26, 2021 Author Posted September 26, 2021 Okay. I tried to update the metadata once last time after your message. Hopefully the newest log shows that. embyserver.txt

candycane13 1 Posted September 26, 2021 Author Posted September 26, 2021 Using identify worked. Thanks! Never used that to update shows before, but it worked. Good looking out!
Happy2Play 9780 Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 Yes if Emby is getting same name show but wrong year, Identify is the best way to correct the issue, but knowing your folder naming scheme can assist also. Quote /volume1/Emby Media/TV Shows/Outcasts/Season 01/Outcasts S01E01 as "Outcasts" and "Outcasts (2010)" will provide different results. All same named shows should be in name/year folder to avoid same name conflict. 1
