Hello

My server wont playback video's to a mobile. it is a bit flaky but mostly doesn't work. it will either pause and not play again or just not even start playing

Emby server 4.6.4.0

Windows server 2019

I had just moved over from Ubuntu to Windows and had the same issue on there

I have uploaded a log, i enabled debug logging and have removed the IP's and domain name from it

Does this only happen with media with excessive amount of subtitles as this file has 35?

So I have no update to do on the app on both phones

An interesting thing, this plays on the other phone (andriod as well, Samsung). I hit play on 1 works fine the other at the same time..... Nope

The phones are Samsung s21 ultra (working) and an s20 ultra (not working) we have different Emby users signed in

I tried another film with the same quality not as many subtitles.. Same issue

On my android it seems to transcode from 4k to 1080p which should be okay for the server I haven't had an issue with transcoding 4k before

The server is not on my network it is a dedicated server that lives with Hetzner. Just installed with the Windows platform after Ubuntu had the same issue. Emby doesn't run on hyper-v I installed it on the host.

I signed my working phone in with the other emby user, worked fine

After noticing you were on about the apk download rather than the play store button. I installed that apk and same issue

Have you tried remuxing the file to remove the excess subtitles?

I would expect it to be on both devices if it were subtitles and it happens with other content that hasn't got as many subtitles

You should still test this by reducing the subs down to something reasonable like 4 or 5.
It may or may not be the cause but is a valid test as we know some devices just don't handle files with excessive subs well.

I have another movie with 2 subs, same issue

Let's take a look at this movie then.  Can you post details about it?

You're saying you solved it just by switching to another user, is that correct?

No I meant I signed in the emby user for the phone it doesn't work on into the phone it does work on

No success

Hi, yes because it's unclear that you tried that. Were you able to try it?

When it doesn't work, do you see any activity on the Server Dashboard?

As a test, would you like to try connecting to my server on your phone to see if you can playback from my server?

I'm happy to try if you want to pm the details?

One thing that I have just thought of and would be curios to know if someone else can relate

I use NGINX as a reverse proxy and have it setup so Ports 80, 443 and 8920 point to NGINX which will pass it onto Emby, this way I can use my domain name and certificate

Any potential NGINX could be a cause? Is there a recommended NGINX config for Emby?
