FrAllard 11 Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 Hi, Is there a way to limit the time Emby will buffer Live TV. My mother keep her TV running for a very long time on Live TV and Emby fills up the transcode folder and I fear that it might break something at one time. I'd like to limit this to 1.5h for example. Tuners are HDHomeRun CONNECT HDHR4-2US Regards
Carlo 4561 Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 (edited) Hi, no there is a not a way to do this. There is one possible change you may be able to make on her Emby Client but it depends on the client. There is a setting that can be turned on "Are you still Watching" that will prompt the person to hit a button on the remote. So this way if watching live TV and the person falls asleep or walks away it can stop on it's own. Edited September 25, 2021 by cayars
FrAllard 11 Posted September 24, 2021 Author Posted September 24, 2021 What happen when the transcode drive get completely full? I'll look into the continue watching. She's using a Fire TV.

She's using a Fire TV. Reports basically say the server crashes/becomes unresponsive and other minor issues. The option should be "Are you still Watching" but not familiar with this client or the option location. Enable 'Are You Still Watching?' prompt Prevent playback from continuing indefinitely by periodically prompting for user input. 1
FrAllard 11 Posted September 24, 2021 Author Posted September 24, 2021 I enabled the option we'll see. She also told me that Emby client crashed and that's probably why Emby server continued to feed the transportstream file and grew it until it would have crashed.

If the client crashes then yes this could be a issue as the server has not received any stop commands. But Luke has mentioned some runaway situations like this should be improved in 4.7. 1

Thank you for your feedback and help on this matter, it's very much appreciated!
