jant90 15 Posted September 23, 2021 Posted September 23, 2021 I've configured my Emby server to use US English where possible, yet I see foreign movie titles in my library. Server > Settings > Preferred display language = English (United States) Server > Library > Advanced (tab) > Language = English Server > Library > Advanced (tab) > Country = United States Server > Library > Libraries (tab) > Movies (my movie library) > Edit > Preferred metadata download language = blank/empty Server > Library > Libraries (tab) > Movies (my movie library) > Edit > Country = blank/empty As you can see the last 2 settings in this list are unset/blank, so they should use the global setting which is Englush US and United States. Also relevant, the metadata downloaders I use are for my movie library, in that order: The Open Movie Database (so this one has the highest priority, I believe I did this to get IMDb - instead of TMDB - ratings in my library) TheMovieDb Despite all settings being set to English more and more movies are getting foreign titles. I'm quite certain these movies had English titles in the past when I added them so I believe the titles are being changed to foreign ones on the periodic metadata refresh. Some examples Oldeuboi (= Oldboy) Le fidèle (= Racer and the Jailbird) La vita è bella (= Life Is Beautiful) Lo imposible (= The Impossible) On IMDb all of them show the foreign title as their original title so I'm guessing the Open Movie Database metadata scraper is causing all this and is using the original movie title instead of the English one as I configured. Is this perhaps a bug in the Open Movie Database plugin? I just would like to know: how can I get all my movie titles in English again (and keep IMDb ratings)?
Luke 42078 Posted September 23, 2021 Posted September 23, 2021 Hi, Open Movie Database does not have any language options, so if you set that as your top priority provider, then essentially you get whatever they have. Either that's the reason, or perhaps you have a pre-existing nfo file containing the title and therefore Emby is using it. 1
jant90 15 Posted September 24, 2021 Author Posted September 24, 2021 Thanks for the quick reply. I already suspected OMDB to be the issue and I should've checked it first but I did check several movies now and the API currently only returns the original (so sometimes foreign) movie title. Also I'm 100% sure this behavior changed somewhere in the last year because I always got English movie titles before. If I prioritize TMDB will I still get IMDb (and RT) ratings from the OMDB API? I remember I got TMDB ratings in the past for my movies with TMDB prioritzed and found them to be unreliable at times, as some movies only get a handful of votes.
Luke 42078 Posted September 25, 2021 Posted September 25, 2021 No, all fields go by the provider order, but that's something I've been meaning to add an option for.
