Pixelpaule 4 Posted September 20, 2021 Posted September 20, 2021 Hello all, in my music collection only albums are displayed under genre. Single songs are not displayed there, although they contain id tags for the genre. I have many songs in my music collection that have no id tag for albums. They are only tagged with artist, song, genre. How can I display these songs also under "genre"? If I tag the single songs e.g. with an album tag "Single", then these are summarized for each artist as an album. But this way these songs always get the same cover per artist. My Folderstructure is: - Genre - Albums - Artist - Album - Songs.mp3 - Diverse - Songs.mp3 - Remixe - Songs.mp3
Luke 42085 Posted September 20, 2021 Posted September 20, 2021 Hi, the Emby genres sections are not based on your folder structure but based on the embedded metadata within the files. You'll need to ensure they are all tagged with the genre information as the folder structure is irrelevant. Can you show a screenshot of what you see in the Emby web app? Thanks.

That's why i'm wondering that only tracks with an album tag are shown up in the genre section. That's how i tag my music: Albums are tagged with following Informations: Artist, Track, Genre, Album, Song Number, Year and Ratings Singles are tagged with following Informations: Artist, Track, Genre, Year and Ratings I've attached some Screenshots. In the last screenshot you can see all the genres that are in my music collection. So not all genres are shown in emby, because many songs don't have an album tag. Luke 42085 Posted September 21, 2021 Posted September 21, 2021 Hi, yes it is true, the genres screen is showing albums, not tracks, so that explains that.
Pixelpaule 4 Posted September 21, 2021 Author Posted September 21, 2021 Hey @Luke thank‘s for your fast reply. Are there any plans that tracks are showing in the genre section too?
Luke 42085 Posted September 21, 2021 Posted September 21, 2021 I suppose a selection is always possible, but in the vast majority of music apps it's customary to see albums under genres. Please note you can also go to the Songs tab and filter by genre.
Pixelpaule 4 Posted September 22, 2021 Author Posted September 22, 2021 (edited) Hey @Luke thank you very much for your answer. My music collection consists of full albums but also many single songs, from different artists from different genre. These individual songs do not contain the ID tag "album" since I only want to tag "full albums" by artists as albums. How should I proceed in my case? It is not rare that you only have a handful of songs from artists. If I tag the single songs e.g. in the ID Tag Album with "Single", then the same cover will be displayed for all songs of an artist. Now I have the next problem. When I download music via Emby, only albums are displayed in the Downloads section of the iOS app. The individual songs are also missing here, as in the "Genre" section. Luke 42085 Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 Right we are working on expanding the downloads library to look just like a server library. In the meantime it is album based though.
Pixelpaule 4 Posted August 11, 2022 Author Posted August 11, 2022 (edited) Here is some feedback from me after some time. I have now solved it in such a way that I have filled the "Album" tag with "Singles - Genre Name" for the songs that do not belong to an album. In addition, I have entered Various Artists under "Album Artist". This works perfectly. This also allows everything to be displayed cleanly in the Emby app on the smartphone when the content is downloaded. Edited August 11, 2022 by Pixelpaule 1
