Hello,

I post this NOT looking for support, but to vent.  The tvshow metadata was no problem.  I am stunned how easily tvshows aligned.  only one series was an issue, firefly, but that is one in which fox jacked up the order--changed to dvd.  done.  HOWEVER, the Movie metadata is a disappointment, a titanic mess.  e.g., I have yet to figure out why lincoln (2012).mkv persistently pulls lincoln vampire hunter metadata.  wtf. this is not a problem with moviedb. I have other movies with the wrong metadata, but I also have loads of movies, in which no metadata is pulled, e.g., croupier (1998).mkv.  there are  no similar movie names for that year,  like lincoln, or close to that year to croupier--NOTHING pulled.  NO METADATA??  wtf.  I prefer not bringing up plex, but this problem is new for me and movie metadata.  I do not see what I could be doing wrong with such simple files, so back to the metadata war and TRYING to fix by hand jamming id numbers.  NOT happy.

I am happy I purchased premiere to support, it is otherwise a great server, but this is a step backward regarding metadata.

again, not interested in support; I have to slug through it.  I will not revisit this thread, too angry.

sorry about the vent...

thanks.

You say you won't see this but in case anyone else does, OP is wrong.  It's either their movie naming, a moviedb issue, or both.  The top result for 'lincoln' in 2012 from their crappy search function is the movie Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter.  The movie with an exact title match is second.  This is appallingly stupid but that's what TVDB is returning on its search.  Luckily there is an identify tool to correct for these errors quite easily.

That all said, as long as you name your files properly these kinds of screw ups in themoviedb are relatively uncommon and you won't have to manually recognize films often.  Using the second example, Croupier, there was no problem recognizing the file \\SERVER\SHARE\Croupier (1998)\Croupier (1998).mkv.  The top moviedb result is the expected movie and the metadata downloads just fine.
