tampoon 8 Posted September 14, 2021 Posted September 14, 2021 I'm not sure why this is happening, Background: I recently had to rebuild my server decided to swap over to beta. all the libraries work as expected for tv and movies and such but i used to just keep a couple mixed content libraries going for some sport things that were sorted by file names (F1 and nhl games ect). before when i did this i was able to see emby import everything by file name and i could go into my clients and see the full file names. now i seems that its just importing with truncated naming which means all of these files end up looking the same(most cases). is there a way to get emby to import by full file name automaticly. i have tried making it as home movie / tv showed /movies / mixed content. tried disabling al the meta data searches. i just cant get it back the way i had it. side issue i also used to be able to go in via emby for kodi and play this kind of content and it would retain the playback progress now with beta or emby next gen it no longer resumes with progress. thanks for the help Daniel

Luke 42086 Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 Hi there, can you please go over an example in detail? Thanks.
tampoon 8 Posted September 15, 2021 Author Posted September 15, 2021 for sure, and thanks for the help. so i created a mixed content library called WEC. i have it pointed at 1 folder as a source. i am about to watch the 24hr of leman race which is broken into 1hr segments. example file name is "Le.Mans.24.Hours.2021.Hour01.Web-Rip.720p.60fps.X264.English-DC46". i disabled all the meta data search functions but i have tried leaving that on it seems to make no difference. and when i go to the library from the web interface or any other client it just shows 24 files all named Le.Mans.24.hours the rest of the name is removed. and this makes it impossible to know whats what. i can see it did order them in the right order however i have a couple files that are for the qualifying that i wanted to watch and im not sure what what without going into identify or the metadata editor to look at them. im sure i could use the editor to restore the file names (i assume at least) but i never had to do this before. and since i lost the resume function on some of my client tv's it makes it harder to keep track of my place.
GrimReaper 4763 Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 In your folder structure, they all get identified as Movies, hence you get those parts dropped. You can either put them in Season 1 subfolder so it gets recognized as a series or put those Hours xx in front of 2021. 1
Solution Happy2Play 9785 Posted September 15, 2021 Solution Posted September 15, 2021 (edited) Yes Mixed Content will determine if Movie or TV and parse name at year as mentioned above, I would suggest Home Videos library. Edited September 15, 2021 by Happy2Play 1
tampoon 8 Posted September 15, 2021 Author Posted September 15, 2021 ah ha. yes i think thats indeed the issue. i didint know it was looking at everything as a movie. the home movie lib was corrected it. i may also try the season thing too. but i appreciate it. i still have to try resuming. but do you know if home movie will correct that issue as well? Thanks for the help.

tampoon 8 Posted September 15, 2021 Author Posted September 15, 2021 thanks a ton. yeah i can confirm this corrected the base problem that i was having. what's still not working as expected, now that i can test is the resume function on a raspberry pi running libreelec, via the emby next gen addon in addon mode. i can got the folders for like 24hr of leman start it get into the video stop it. i see the icon change from unplayed to partially played, when going back to the video it gives me the resume prompt but then always starts from the beginning.
Luke 42086 Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 Great, thanks for the feedback. For client-specific questions, I would post in the section of the community for that client, for example: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/forum/185-emby-for-kodi-next-gen/ Thanks.
