Split series

So I had a slight issue with two series and thought I would post my findings here for future reference as I couldn't find anything about this.

So I have Hunter x Hunter from 1999 and Hunter X Hunter 2011, Emby keeps grouping both series together and showing the episodes as two versions even though they are two different series, folder structure is:

/media
  |
  |-/anime
       |
       |-/Hunter X Hunter
       |-/Hunter X Hunter (2011)

For love nor money I couldn't figure out how to split them, all googlefu yielded no results, nor did the forum search, all results were for slightly different issues, my solution, was to edit the XML files for both series and update the tmdb, ani, imdb references and then mark them to be locked, then searched for files, and finally told the series in question to refresh metadata, this solved my problem.

I reckon appending the first folder with year (1999) would have yielded desired result. Or alternatively, import one series, scrape, disable all meta-fetchers, import second series, enable meta-fetchers, use Identify on the second unknown one.

I did look at doing that but I have other systems which expects the folder structure to match the title of the series as it appears on tvdb, what was annoying was when looking at the episode data in emby it did show them as 1999 and 2011 versions

Also, deselecting library option "Merge series spread across different folders" would have probably shown them as same item twice, could've used Identify on wrong instance.

Where is this fabled option as I don't see it anywhere?

Hi there, have you explored the options for your TV library in Emby library setup?
