Manually Identifying something in the library - safe to close window?

If I go into my library (on a server account w/ the needed perms of course), click Identify on an item, and search for it manually to identify it, as in the example below:

Once I've gotten to the point of the spinning progress indicator, is it safe to close the modal "Identify" dialog, or the browser tab/window, or do I have to wait for it to finish?
