Home Screen.......very slow to come up

I am extremely new to Emby, as in less than a week.  I've been a Plex user for about 5 years or so, and for the most part have liked it.  For the last year or so, I am starting 'not' to like it very much, due to reasons I won't even go into here, which prompted me to start looking elsewhere.

After some research, I elected to give Emby a try.  Installation and setup went great.  My Plex library has about 6000 movies.  To test Emby, I only put 7 movies in my Emby Test Folder.  Everything looked great, and was getting ready to add all my movies into Emby, but I noticed something a little off.  With only 7 movies in the library, I can be in any screen, take your pick, and when I hit the Home Button, it takes about 30 seconds to load.  Going to any other screen is instantaneous, but then going back home, I get the little swirling circle for about 30 seconds, every time, even though no new media has been placed in the library.

All the YT video's that I watched doing my research, appeared to be instant with their install upon hitting Home.

Age or power is not an issue with the dedicated Win 10 PC that I am running the Emby Media Server on.  I am hoping that it is just a configuration issue.  This is the only issue that I have found that is keeping me from dumping Plex and going full bore with Emby.

For what it worth, I searched the Forum before posting, and could not find anything related.  Please forgive me if I missed it or posted my problem in the wrong area.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I would say there is definitely something wrong in that install taking 30 seconds to get back to Home Screen with a library of only 7 items.

But what client/app?

Wired or wireless?

Local vs Remote?

Hardware and harddrive type Emby is on?

Overall Navigation back to Home should be instant as everything is known/cached already.

Devs may need to see a server log showing this issue per the linked topic above.

Any idea's yet?

Hi, the responses in this log file look fast to me. Are you sure this log file is from when the time the problem was experienced?

Sorry for the delay.  I had to wait to get back home from work to check something out.

I wasn't aware that a new log was created for each day.  After my post on Sunday, I started playing around with some of the configurations. After that, as of now, it goes to the Home screen instantly.  Before the changes, it was taking an average of 20 to 25 seconds to go to the Home screen.  I originally had it set to have a background image on the Home screen.  Once I turned it off, everything worked great.  I think it was taking that 20 to 25 seconds to compile the background images from my movies.

I may be wrong, but I think that was the problem.  Does that sound right to you?

No, it doesn't.  That should not have much of an impact.  If you turn that option back on, do you see poor performance again?

I'll give it a try when I get back home from work this afternoon.

I turned that option back on, and I did not see a performance issue.  I am at a lose.  Everything seems to be working OK.  If I start to encounter the issues again, I will update my post.  Thanks for all the input and suggestions.

As for now, everything seems to be working flawlessly.

Remember to check for other apps running on your server at the same time you are opening Emby.  Quite often an auto virus check can cause delay in other programs.  Shortcut to task manager in Windows is [Ctrl] [Shift] [Esc].
