zellonatious 3 Posted September 11, 2021 Posted September 11, 2021 Is dolby vision supported on nvidia shield? I have searched and found references to this being the case but I don't see any official statement on the matter. Furthermore it doesn't work on my device. My setup - latest release of emby for android tv - smooth direct play (no transcoding) of mkv file with dolby vision - mkv file has profile 7 DV (Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, dvhe.07.06, BL+EL+RPU, Blu-ray compatible / SMPTE ST 2086, HDR10 compatible) - Nvidia shield pro 2017 - Nvidia shield -> AVR -> TV However my TV reports that only HDR10 is being played. Do I need the latest nvidia shield for this to work? Can emby staff confirm that such a setup would work with the latest nvidia shield?

FrostByte 5392 Posted September 11, 2021 Posted September 11, 2021 (edited) Lots of people using DV with Emby so it does work. Your AVR has to be able to passthrough DV also for it to work on your DV TV. On the 2019 Shield there should be a DV option under display settings if DV is detected by the Shield, if it's not there then something in your setup doesn't support DV. zellonatious 3 Posted September 18, 2021 Author Posted September 18, 2021 Still waiting on an official response from the dev team.
Carlo 4561 Posted September 18, 2021 Posted September 18, 2021 @FrostByte already gave you the correct answer. This is available only on the 2019 Shields. All components in the chain must be DV compatible and you need to setup the Shield properly to use DV in the system menus. Dolby Vision & AI Upscaling are not available on older NVIDIA SHIELD TVs. 2
