Hi,

I have moved my dockers to my zpool drives from my main OS drive, I edit all docker compose config to point to the new location, all dockers are back up and working fine, but emby  server does not come up, the docker container builds fine and says running but I cant access emby. Any Ideas if emby docker can be moved?

Thanks

Oh and I cant provident think  logs as emby is not starting.

I moved the docker directory (where docker apps are ), then in the config compose file I change the path

container_name: emby
    network_mode: proxynet
    environment:
      - PUID=1000
      - PGID=1000
      - TZ=Europe/
    volumes:
   > - /home/docker/emby/library:/config  < (changed it to /storage where the new volume has moved)
      - /storage/Media:/data/Media
      - /opt/vc/lib:/opt/vc/lib #optional
    ports:
      - 8096:8096
      - 8920:8920
    restart: unless-stopped

see if you can find some system logs for when you bring everything up.  dmesg or whatever.  also can you shell into your emby container?

I re mapped the volume to /home (where the old directory is still there( and emby came back  up, so something in emby is not liking the drive change,

here are logs I have when emby came back up, I do not know if  emby logs  anything from the problem.

as for the shell I dont know, I would have to change the path again to /storage,  I would have to do this again as I need everything off the main drive, I hope I wouldn't have to re install emby just to move it, as other docker moved and work fine.

nah you should just have to repoint to your movd config directory in your run/compose file.  weird, i'm not sure.

Hi @chrismallia has this helped?

Thanks for the reply.

Problem still happens when I point the  compose config to new directory location, it seams like  you cant migrate emby directory, maybe its due to product key license ? if you need more info I would be happy to provide, I wish to be able to make this work, I cant get why all other dockers work fine and emby does not come up, but when I point the config back to the old directory it comes back up.

the way I did it (ubun tu server)

sudo docker stop emby

sudo cp -R /home/docker/emby  /storage/docker

sudo nano docker-compose.yml

replaced volume  /home with /storage

save

sudo docker-compose up -d

When you copy/move/relocate the emby config path you MUST preserve ownership and permissions.

Your log is full of access errors.

Hey

thank you sooo much. that was the problem. I now used rsync -a and permissions and ownerships where preserved correctly, emby is working great now.

Thanks again.
