How to Customize Emby Extras?

I followed the naming and folder conventions. (https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159102)

I have multiple folders per movie like, deleted scenes, extra, specials, and trailers.  But, when I click into the movie, all of the content in these folders are all under "Extras" in random order. (except trailers)  How can I get these to show up in separate categories and order them?

Another thing, files like "deleted-scenes.mkv" just show up as "deleted-scenes" and not "Deleted Scenes".  I know I can change this by just naming it "Deleted Scenes.mkv", but I would think following the convention, this would be done automatically.

I tried adding " - extended edition.mkv" onto the name and put this in the movie name's root folder, but all it did was show up looking like a duplicate movie.  There was nothing about it being the extended edition anywhere.

You would put all versions in one folder, if you want the title to only appear once in the movie list. Then you will have a selection pull down, when you enter the movie page.

Example: (My screenshot is to show the selection pulldown.)

Folder: Movie

Video files: Movie - Theaterical

                     Movie - Extended

This Extras folder organization is just that and will not create these categories in the media, they are all extras.

Also, other than just dropping the trailer in the extras folder, get trailers to show up?

Sorry that is the only way, otherwise properly named/orgainzed trailers are linked to the Trailers button and queued if you have more then one trailer.

How is Emby suppose to know this name you want displayed?  File can be named anything and Emby should never convert it to something else in my opinion.

Yes this is a grey area as everyone is using Multi-Version even thought is was designed for Resolution not different cuts/editions.

See Multi-version section in KB

Each version must begin with the folder name, followed by " - ".

Here's a feature request thread for improving the extras display you can vote for.

The thread starter asked for sorting the existing list by extra type; I joined in to ask for the separation by type you're requesting.

The current Emby team stance is maybe someday but probably not because they don't think very many people actually use the extras functionality.

Alright, thanks for the info.  It's a bit disappointing.  What drew me to Emby over Plex was that everyone said how customizable it was.  So far, it seems a bit rigid.  Seems odd to have special folder names like specials, deleted scenes, etc, but then lump them all into one Extras display.  Doesn't quite make sense (other than trailers) to have the different folders.

I did go to that other thread and liked the first post.  It would be nice if Emby allowed for crazy amounts of customization.

Allowing separation of these categories is certainly possible for the future.

If Emby's code is .NET, I could help make that future == soon.  🙂

While not perfect, you can edit the meta data for extras just like any other video file, so you can change the sort name to at least put your extras in whatever order you like if you wish. Personally, I try to follow the order the extras are presented on the disc I ripped them from, but always put bloopers first (just because I'm a fan of a good gag reel). Not saying I wouldn't mind separation by categories in the future, but at least there is something you can do in the mean time if you wish.

Do you mean to edit the *.nfo and change the <title> so that it sorts without changing the display title?

I edit the meta data directly for the individual extra in Emby which changes the nfo for each. That changes <sorttitle> for each to something like "Bonus 1", "Bonus 2", etc.

Oh, I see what you mean.  Yeah, that's a good bit of work, but at least it gives me a workaround if I really want to reorder something.  Thanks!
