Benplace 0 Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 I have been using Emby for live TV viewing for a few months and decided to try it for TV recording. I tried it and went back to look a week later and realized the Recordings library said "No items found." So I went in manually and looked at the folder and sure enough there were recordings in there. I did notice under "My Media" it showed an image with the TV Shows cover images, but when I click it "No items found" In my hours of troubleshooting. I decided to turn off recording and just add some regular libraries, I started with some TV shows in a separate library that I already had and then a folder with some MKV movies in it. Again, under My Media both libraries show up with cover images but when I click on them it says "No items found" I checked filters and have no filters on. I did a reinstall over my current installation without uninstalling as I dont want to lose all of my accounts I have set up. I looked at logs and no errors stick out to me. I just deleted all libraries and went to scheduled taksa did a scan libraries and metadata and then just added a single library and folder with like 5 movies in it. Same result I can see the covers under my media but 0 items found. I also noticed if I click manage metadata and the library it wont expand. Anyone have any ideas here?

rbjtech 5284 Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 Do you have permissions to view those libraries / content ? Look in Server > Users > Access and ensure the relevant libraries are ticked.
Benplace 0 Posted September 7, 2021 Author Posted September 7, 2021 Yes, enable access to all libraries is checked. Oddly I also set this same setup for live TV for my cousin and I just had him test and he has the same issue. The library shows with image of covers but you click it and no items
Benplace 0 Posted September 7, 2021 Author Posted September 7, 2021 Is it perhaps a bug since we set up a new server with no libraries and added live TV only with recording? We installed the latest version as well.
Carlo 4561 Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 It looks like you were looking in Movies library by that pic instead of Recording lib??? Did you grant yourself permissions to view the Recording Library?
Benplace 0 Posted September 7, 2021 Author Posted September 7, 2021 I only have Movies enabled right now and it doesnt matter what the library is I cannot see anything when I click the library. No items found, even though I see the covers before I click the library
Carlo 4561 Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 DVR Recordings will show up in the Recording library, not Movies library by default.
Benplace 0 Posted September 8, 2021 Author Posted September 8, 2021 Nothing is showing up in ANY libraries. They all say no items.

Edit: Do you maybe have some Parental Control in place? Tag rule? In User settings. Edited September 8, 2021 by GrimReaper Append
Benplace 0 Posted September 8, 2021 Author Posted September 8, 2021 Yes those are the correct shows and I do have different tag rules set up for live TV to block certain channels.

Is it a Block rule or Allow rule? Edit: Or create new user with no rules, so you can see whether movies will show up in your library. You can easily delete that user later. So, in order to see any of those, you either need to tag all of them OR change that to Block rule and tag channels you want to restrict access. 1

Benplace 0 Posted September 8, 2021 Author Posted September 8, 2021 OK I changed my restriction from only allow to block these and tried the library and it is working as it should be. The way my TV is set up this is going to be a huge problem. I looked and the recorded shows have no tags, is there some way to add a tag whenever a show is recorded? Maybe in post processing or with some sort of addon? BTW thanks for all of the help, at least now I know what it is.
rbjtech 5284 Posted September 8, 2021 Posted September 8, 2021 So you want to 'block' newly recorded TV shows ?
Benplace 0 Posted September 8, 2021 Author Posted September 8, 2021 No, I want to only allow "Channels" with certain tags but still be able to see the recordings. If I could auto add something like a "Recording" tag to all of the recordings when it happens I could then add that as an allowable tag and it would fix the issue. Instead when recordings run the output contains no tags
Carlo 4561 Posted September 8, 2021 Posted September 8, 2021 Maybe it would help to give us more information on what you are trying to accomplish. In general what are you trying to do (forget about how to do it).
Benplace 0 Posted September 8, 2021 Author Posted September 8, 2021 Sorry I am trying to be as clear as possible. What I want to do is be able to have an account that only shows movie channels for my wife, but for me shows movie channels and sports. But I use a IPTV tuner and I dont want to see all of the channels that dont interest me. There are way more channels I dont want to see so it is super easy to just say "only show me sports and movie tags" show the other account "Movies" I also have something similar for the kids with tags for kids content. When I set this up as "Allow Only items with these tags" and then my wife wants to record movies she likes, she cannot see the recordings in the recordings library because they have no tags. Hopefully that makes sense.
rbjtech 5284 Posted September 8, 2021 Posted September 8, 2021 ok - so on the what channels to show, just add a Tag to the channels you want and then filter on that Tag. The Recordings will always go in the same folder however, so you maybe able to use some post processing or AutoOrganize to move them to 'user' specific folders ?
Benplace 0 Posted September 8, 2021 Author Posted September 8, 2021 (edited) No its not a folder issue I can't see the recordings because they have no tags and I am telling it to only show items WITH specific tags. Edited September 8, 2021 by Benplace Mispelling
Benplace 0 Posted September 8, 2021 Author Posted September 8, 2021 I am hoping to do it without having to log in as a seperate user everytime and manually add tags to my shows to get them to show up. Are you saying that if I tag one episode they will then all show up?
Carlo 4561 Posted September 8, 2021 Posted September 8, 2021 If using tags to show items via parental restrictions then you will never see any items anywhere that doesn't have a tag. This is likely not the expected outcome you are trying to achieve. If you want your wife to have access to all the normal content but only channels with a tag in Live TV then what you want to do is tag only the channels you want her to see then set a filter for those channels right in Live TV. The tags in Live TV work like groups. If you click on the 3 dot menu you can then do something like this to show only news channels: 1
Benplace 0 Posted September 8, 2021 Author Posted September 8, 2021 Where is this setting? Is it done by the users themselves? Can the kids change their settings themself and access channels I do not want them on?
