iJoMun 11 Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 Hi, I know this question has been asked before so apologies for repeating it. When I had my Emby server set up on a Linux desktop, I used to be able to download srt files automatically. Then I bought a NAS and put both my Emby and Plex servers on it. Problem now is that Emby won't automatically download subs. I have to go to each file, movie or a TV episode, select "Edit Subtitles," search and download each sub manually. This is even true of new contents that I add. In the Libraries themselves, I have default sub language and "require hash match" turned off. I have OpenSubtitles.org credentials properly set (obviously, since I wouldn't be able to download anything otherwise). I've scanned all the libraries and refreshed all Metadata. So what do I do?
Carlo 4561 Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 Hi, Could you go to scheduled tasks and run the download subtitles job then when it finishes upload the server log file? This will let us see if any obvious errors are taking place and what the cause could be. Thanks
Luke 42078 Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 If you can successfully manually download, then a lack of automated downloads is usually explained by one of the following: You're not waiting for the download subtitles scheduled task to run, and therefore end up assuming that it's not working Or your automatic download settings are too restrictive, causing nothing to be downloaded If you click on the scheduled task, what is the current schedule for it?
iJoMun 11 Posted September 5, 2021 Author Posted September 5, 2021 Hi @cayars @Luke Good to see you both again I hope I did it right. When I go Scheduled Tasks, I see nothing listed under the "Download Subtitles" section. Still, I clicked on it, which seemed to generate a new log file named "embyserver.txt." I'm uploading that as well as partial screen grab of the Scheduled Tasks section. Please let me know if that helps. embyserver.txt
Carlo 4561 Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 Barely anything in the log file at all. But you should go to networks menu and turn off Enable automatic port mapping as that is throwing errors in your log file. The download subs job above shows 0 seconds running so it didn't do anything. Please post a pic showing us the settings you have setup for your movie library.

To be clear, you want me to screengrab the settings page for one of the libraries and up the images? It'll be six photos.

iJoMun 11 Posted September 5, 2021 Author Posted September 5, 2021 (edited) Here you go, the sub section from the TV Shows library (since that's really where I really need the automatic download feature the most). The "Movies" library is the same setting. Edited September 5, 2021 by iJoMun
Carlo 4561 Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 Nothing wrong with that and it's pretty much what you described earlier. I'm a little puzzled why it's showing 0 seconds to run in the task. Have you restarted the server and tried this again?

I have started the server a couple times over the past two days, but I'll do it again. I'll restart the NAS and relaunch the server. What specific actions do I need to take in on the server to start the subtitles download task?
Carlo 4561 Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 You should be able to manually kick off this task from the task schedule menu.

But the manual process has its own language selector so it works. 1

I rechecked "English" for all the libraries and manually ran the subtitles download task. It ran for almost 7 minutes and looks like downloaded a bunch of movie srt, but I'm still not getting any downloads for TV shows. I still have to download each and every TV episode subs manually. Attached is the most recent log file... embyserver.txt

My guess there is a issue with inherited folder permissions (but another platform guru would have to assist) as you are getting subs saved to that location. 2021-09-05 19:24:16.474 Info SubtitleManager: Saving subtitles to /volume1/MyMedia/Movies 2K/The.Debt.2011.1080p.BluRay.x264-SECTOR7/The.Debt.2011.1080p.BluRay.x264-SECTOR7.en.srt 1 minute ago, iJoMun said: 11 minutes ago, Luke said: What is this, a bluray folder bdmv structure? /volume1/MyMedia/Movies 4K/+The Bourne Anthology/The.Bourne.Ultimatum.2007.2160p.BluRay.HEVC.DTS-X.7.1-OMFUG Yes. iJoMun 11 Posted September 6, 2021 Author Posted September 6, 2021 Well, I ran the Download Subtitles task many times. The vast majority of movies and shows are still missing any external subs.
Carlo 4561 Posted September 6, 2021 Posted September 6, 2021 If you run it manually do you find subs for those movies and shows?

You might've as well hit daily limit for free-tier (200), considering there are 162 TV show subtitles (excluding movies) just in that single log you shared few hours ago.

I just ran the download function about an hour ago. It ran for a couple of minutes and came back with a handful of errors/exceptions but when I looked through the files, those exceptions seem to be related to file types, BMDV, AVC, etc. And when I search for subs manually for those files, I don't find any either. So I'm okay with those few exceptions. But the task is also not downloading subs for many legitimate shows/movies that I can do manually. 46 minutes ago, GrimReaper said: Are you a VIP user? I'm not a VIP member but I can still d/l subs manually. Not sure if that excludes the possibility that I'm hitting their rate limit. Perhaps I'll wait another day?
