Gerry941 3 Posted September 2, 2021 Posted September 2, 2021 The upgrade using the DS418 has caused loss of access to music files via Emby on my DS418 play. Following the instructions on the DS 418 I have reached the point of specifying the path from the Emby drop down menu. The music files (and all other folders) are in volume 1. Vol 1 to my understanding therefore is chosen for the path - this was selected. The result after "scan library files" is that Emby displays nearly all the folders (and their files) but not the music folders - oh except a ring tone!! See screen shot file attached I can see many others have had problems after the up grade v6 to v7 but frankly the answers given are beyond me - I don't knowwhere to start. So - and it will come to all of you ( being elderly that is,) with the inability to grasp news things. I ask therefore some help please in the most simplistic terms - i.e not using shorthand, abbreviations or terminolgy (ie putty etc) . Thirty years ago I could tune a klystron and write a paper on Multiplexed Analogue Components (MAC D2), but not now. The old grey matter does decline over the years!
Carlo 4561 Posted September 2, 2021 Posted September 2, 2021 Hi, what path do you have setup for this music library? Do you have any other libraries besides music?
Gerry941 3 Posted September 2, 2021 Author Posted September 2, 2021 (edited) Within Emby setting up structure I chose vol 1 as this is where all my folders are stored. Other " libraries include: self made videos, pictures, downloaded files, documents Edited September 2, 2021 by Gerry941 add pics
Gerry941 3 Posted September 2, 2021 Author Posted September 2, 2021 Thanks for the respnse BTW - Other files in vol 1 are as shown
Carlo 4561 Posted September 2, 2021 Posted September 2, 2021 What does your library setup screen look like?
Gerry941 3 Posted September 2, 2021 Author Posted September 2, 2021 By library set up screen do you mean this? (sorry but as said I'm a bit thick in these matters!)
Carlo 4561 Posted September 2, 2021 Posted September 2, 2021 Yes, that's the screen. You have the music library pointed to /volume1 which is not what you will want. You should setup a new share such as "Media" and then under Media have different folders for: Movies TV Shows Music Home Videos etc Basically one new folder for each library you setup. Then you would point your Music library to /volume1/Media/Music Does that make sense?
Gerry941 3 Posted September 2, 2021 Author Posted September 2, 2021 Yes it does make sense - thanks, I'll attempt that. Not quite sure though the /volume 1/Music didn't work though. May clarify that having done this should I continue to use Emby's drop down menu and select /vol1? And then modify it to /vol 1/Media/Music?
Carlo 4561 Posted September 2, 2021 Posted September 2, 2021 Would you like me to remote in with you and help you set this up real quick? If so send me a PM and we can do it right now if you like. 1
Gerry941 3 Posted September 2, 2021 Author Posted September 2, 2021 Oh yes - realy would be grateful!!
Carlo 4561 Posted September 2, 2021 Posted September 2, 2021 (edited) Did a remote session that ended up being quite complex to get things working again but prevailed and @Gerry941 can now access his music and has valid login credentials again for both DSM and Emby! Gerry941 3 Posted September 3, 2021 Author Posted September 3, 2021 So grateful for the time and patience that Carlo gave to me in resolving this issue. 1

It wasn't looking good there for a while with not even being able to login to DSM or getting SSH to work, but we prevailed and conquered. 1
