interman 18 Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 I need help troubleshooting this. Out of the blue, my LiveTV intermittently stops recording with the following error. Playback Error No compatible streams are currently available. Please try again later or contact your system administrator for details. Today, it recorded 3 programs at 4, 4:30 and 8:00 am. Then at 6:00 pm, it fails. I tried to play at 9:00 pm and it fails, and I attached a very clean embyserver.txt. I also uploaded the larger embyserver.txt that failed at 6:30 pm on 8/31. Restarting EMBY server does not fix. WinTV 8 will not play. Rebooting the entire computer fixes the problem. Any help? P.S. looking at the logs, I am getting a lot of "Error PortMapper: Error creating port map" Thanks Don embyserver-63766043498.txt embyserver-63766044688.txt
Carlo 4561 Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 (edited) Hi, Go to Networks->Enable automatic port mapping and turn this off. That will stop the errors from showing up in the log as Emby will stop trying to automatically set port forwarding for you. You log file shows "Disk Space Almost Full Notification Completed after 0 minute(s) and 0 seconds" So the first thing to check would be the amount of free space you have for DVR recording and transcoding. How much free space do you have? Edited September 1, 2021 by cayars
interman 18 Posted September 1, 2021 Author Posted September 1, 2021 Thanks. I changed the setting on port mapping. Disks have more than enough space. listing attached. E drive is DVD. Transcoding in on G drive which is 64% available, over 2.3 TB/ DVR recording is also G. When complete, files are moved to J which is 58% available that is a very larger drive. I dont think space is the issue, but thanks for seeing that. Don
Carlo 4561 Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 OK without all the port mapping errors the new logs will be easier to read. I just read through the Emby Server logs and the consumer count (number of streams) was 0 prior to 6pm when it tried to record 2 shows. Emby received an error back from WinTV when it tried to open the tuner. Do you have any other software that's used that accesses your tuners beside Emby/WinTV? Does WinTV have a log file?
interman 18 Posted September 1, 2021 Author Posted September 1, 2021 Ok, I looked. WinTV, no logs. But no recordings. However, I looked at my scheduled recordings in EMBY and two were scheduled from 6:00 - 6:30. I cleared them both and will see that happens at 6. But that brings up a couple of questions. 1. On LiveTV, is two are scheduled for the same time, what happens? Shouldn't it ask for or dictate a prority? 2. Follow on, if this did cause it, why did the 6:30 and and subsequent fail. Hmmmm Thanks. I will update later tonight. Don
Carlo 4561 Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 You can recording multiple things at the same time as long as there are tuners available. It will be first come, first served if there are not enough tuners. There is no priority mechanism built in for DVR use yet but is something we would like to add in the future. Check out this link for info on WinTV logging https://www.hauppauge.it/site/support/support_log.html
interman 18 Posted September 2, 2021 Author Posted September 2, 2021 Cayers: I removed the 6:00 pm recordings and everything works. I respectively submit that there "might" be an issue if two recordings hit at the exact same time with one tuner. Thank for your help. Great support, as always. Don
interman 18 Posted September 2, 2021 Author Posted September 2, 2021 Just One. I have a Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1600 NTSC/ATSC/QAM Combo card. I am recording Clear QAM from Frontier. Once I removed the conflicting recordings, everything worked last night and this morning. I did not get any more port errors. I have attached the latest log. Not sure what the problem was with Laggies but I deleted and will re-extract later. Let me know if you need anything else to help troubleshoot. For now, I will just watch for overlap. Thanks Don embyserver (1).txt
Carlo 4561 Posted September 2, 2021 Posted September 2, 2021 So that card can only tune one channel at a time?
interman 18 Posted September 2, 2021 Author Posted September 2, 2021 Yes. Even if there is only one, shouldn't the software do recording or the other? It seems like EMBY sent a record signal to the tuner, got rejected and then locked up the card, hence the reboot. Before you ask. I had one recording set for 6:00 and one for 6:30 everyday. Then I had a "record series" that they must have shifted times to 6:00 each day. That is what caused the conflict. Thanks Don
Carlo 4561 Posted September 2, 2021 Posted September 2, 2021 It should still record one of the channels.
interman 18 Posted September 2, 2021 Author Posted September 2, 2021 Agree. Never had the problem before and cannot think of anything changed. I have not updated the card driver or WinTv in like forever. Standard windows and Emby updates.
interman 18 Posted September 10, 2021 Author Posted September 10, 2021 Hey Luke, how have you been? It is good to hear form you. I removed the overlapping recording schedules, so the problem went away. I have not done an A/B test to see if it would recur. I did have one program fail to record and I got the compatible streams error, but did not check to see if it was caused by the same thing. So, to answer, I believe the problem is still there but I have not forced to make sure. Do you want me to try and see if I can recreate? Don
interman 18 Posted September 19, 2021 Author Posted September 19, 2021 Luke: I had some time today and tried this out and it happened again. I scheduled 3 recordings from the one turner for the same time period. None of them recorded and I had to reboot the server to get the steams to play. Attached is the log file. I rebooted the server before I tried so the error should be near the top of the file. Debug logging is turned on. Don embyserver (2).txt
Luke 42080 Posted September 20, 2021 Posted September 20, 2021 Was there a tuner playing at the time? Did you overbook the tuners?
interman 18 Posted September 20, 2021 Author Posted September 20, 2021 No. There were no other programs playing. Only these three recordings. The tuner was clear and open. If I try to record or try to watch another channel while the tuner is busy, i do not get an error, it just doesn't play and it does not lock up the tuner. It only seems to happen when I try to record two or more programs at the same time. Layman guess: The programs send play signals to the tuner at the exact same instant and the tuner card does not know which one to handle and locks up. Luke, only a suggestion, but I remember an app I had 10+ years ago that would have a menu item for "scheduling conflicts" and ask you to resolve. That might be helpful. Thanks for all the help. Don
