Just resumed using emby after many months . One thing i immediately noticed is that new UI is quite unideal . I can only confirm it about Android & Web Ui ( not sure about others )

After Opening a show/movie , the super long buttons covering whole width of the screen looks very ugly & is a wastage of screen space . It should be definitely shortened

In case of movies , there's no need of just play & trailer button covering whole one row. Can have just 2 simple icons to indicate them & the below row can then be shifted up to accomodate the leftover space ( 2 Rows would become one )

Tv shows look even more worse than movies , its unbearable , there are literally 4 rows one below the other covering whole row space. Play , Play all & Trailer icons could easily be added in single row & leftover space could be accomodated by the those 4 options at bottom and One row could fully have the Title of the episode ( so 4 rows would become 2 )

For better reference , i am also attaching icons that could be used for play & trailer button ( an appropriate one could easily be found for Play all as well )

Secondly a very useful option which earlier allowed us play any content from start instead of resuming is now removed while there's so much wastage of screen space . Related thread -

I hope this existing UI gets fixed

My whole time reading this post I was wondering what you were talking about. Turns out the iOS app looks completely different than what you’re using.

I find it odd that they don’t keep uniform UI across similar devices.

Obviously something like the Roku app and the iOS app aren’t going to have similar interface design, but surely all Phone apps should?

Are you using the latest version?

The iOS beta of Emby does have the new UI, it just hasn’t been released to the public yet.

That makes more sense. Thanks

Hi, you can't do that with the trailer button because the function would not be obvious just based on the icon alone.

Yeah i agree on that , maybe some people would not understand that its the trailer button but nevertheless the current UI needs change , the older UI where these icons were displayed in a circular manner was still better in the sense it took lot less screen space & looked better . Maybe you can pop up a circular play button in that same row to the very left . Probably A rectangular shape would also look quite good

The overall & main crux of this post is mine is that buttons look good when they are displayed in a single row . ( Attaching hereby the unzoomed screenshot of the icons from my original post , it looks really clean along with the adjusted play button in old ui ). A really long button covering up whole row space is quite weird

@LukeJust for further reference , you can very well do something like this on Emby . Ngl Emby has been better in many aspects but plex's UI game has been extremely top notch . There's nothing wrong in taking inspiration . Can just have 4,5 buttons like those in single row , will look really slick . These amount of buttons can easily be accomodated in both mobile and web ui

The trailer button has to have a label. It can't just be an icon. Similarly, if you're resuming, you have to be able to see where you're resuming (e.g., what time, or what episode in a series).  Once you add those requirements, the icon only display is not going to work.

What I think you haven't noticed is that a fair amount of excess whitespace has been tightened up, so even with one extra line, you're still seeing the same amount of information above the fold.

I do like what netflix is doing in their latest mobile layouts, overlaying the trailer button on top of the main backdrop image up top. So that's something we could look at doing.
