Emby running in LibreELEC, can't see share on Truenass

I've been the unliky result of a ransomware so I thought I would do some work around my fileshares and make sure I have better snapshots to revert from.

In the past I had a readynas with 5TB of Storage and a Windows share (setup up with Anonymous access)
Readynas was fine as I coudl reapply a snapshot a week old

The windows share was a different issue and the OS that drove the shares was taken out as well.

For this reason I decided I would give TrueNas a go and mount what was in windows onto a share in TrueNas

To the best I can tell I have set up all the permissions correctly but when I go into the  Library setup and enter in the new folder path Emby says "The path could not be found", doesn't matter if I enter in \\192.168.0.16\videos or smb://192.168.0.16/videos
This is odd because if I try to connect with ubuntu I do see the "password required" box but I can log in with "Anonymous"

Most of what i have found today talks about the FreeNas plugin which I'm not using, I'm just trying to access this as a share.

Any idea why Emby on another linux box can not see this share?

@MRobi do you have any tips on TrueNAS sharing?

Based on the title, it sounds like you're trying to get Emby into Kodi. Have you tried the Emby for Kodi plugin? It's been a long time since I used LibreELEC but when I did, the Kodi plugin worked perfect.

Now as far as accessing the files, your SMB share settings look OK. But SMB is designed primarily for windows. If you're trying to access the files on a Linux system, you should probably setup a NFS share instead under the Unix Shares section.

Also, this may sound stupid, under the services section make sure you've enabled SMB/NFS. TrueNAS will let you configure the shares even if they're disabled.

Lastly, there's some quirks with SMB in TrueNAS with some devices. You may need to go into Network -> Global Configuration and enable NetBIOS and WS-Discovery. This enables SMB1 which some devices require. I remember having to do this to get the share discovered by an NVIDIA Shield.

Hope this at least gets you pointed in the right direction.

Thanks guys, lots of useful information here.

I have the Emby plugin working fine in Kodi, this bit isn't a concern.

MRobi I might need to look at NFS as I have checked all the recommendations and the only thing not turned on was NetBIOS.

The issue I'm still face with is that it appears on the Truenass device it still wants me to login, e.g. it doesn't auto accept a login of  anonymous like the Readnas does hence Emby will wont connect.

For now I have built a dedicated ubuntu server and have cifs mapped the drives but would like to figure out if it is possibly to connect to a Truenass SMB share without any prompt, e.g. if I don't know you then auto attach as anonymous. I'm thinking this might be better posted in the Truenass forum?

I see this message here when trying to link the Folder
For Linux on Arch Linux, CentOS, Debian, Fedora, OpenSuse, or Ubuntu, you must grant the Emby system user at least read access to your storage locations.
For Linux is there a way in Emby to see who it is running under or is this best from "ps"?

Our Ubuntu packages sets up a system user called emby and that's what the server runs under.
