Cyberbob2021 13 Posted August 25, 2021 Posted August 25, 2021 Hi All & thanks in advance for any advice, I'm in the process of backing up my emby, to move to new home, its all ready to go, however I have a few questions. im backing up both folders complete in the data roaming part of instructions. my issue is the machine im moving from path was user richard, now its user emby (windows name for path) on the new machine. will I need to edit anything for the paths. I left as default paths. ill take a screen shot if that don't make sense my network shares are exactly the same. its just the paths for the roaming part. New Paths example C:\Users\emby\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\cache OLD Paths Cache: C:\Users\Richard\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\cache Logs: C:\Users\Richard\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\logs Metadata: C:\Users\Richard\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\metadata Transcoding temporary files: C:\Users\Richard\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\transcoding-temp
Happy2Play 9785 Posted August 25, 2021 Posted August 25, 2021 Unless you have a really old installations these paths are a token in the database to make this move possible. Since you don't have any Custom paths you should not have issue. Library paths may be your only issue if they change in this move. 2

I kept library paths the same on new pc, just the pc named changed and the pc user name. installation is about 6 months old and all up to date. I had read and followed the manual instructions to back up & restore. so fingers crossed for me thanks for help . 1

At least I know exactly what to back up now and then. my data is on 2 NAs drives. Thanks for the replies In the end it was a really straight forward move, I did follow the Backup guide which helped loads. 1
