shadowfire36 0 Posted August 25, 2021 Posted August 25, 2021 I have notice that i cannot properly play HEVC 1080p files. Any video I have in this format seems to freeze when playing . 720p hevc or any other 1080p stream seem to work fine within my Emby server . I have tried different browsers , different video cards ,and Emby theate. Tthe only way i can get them to play is with an external player through Emby theater. There another way to play this format , seems to be the only format i seem to have an issue with .
ebr 16169 Posted August 25, 2021 Posted August 25, 2021 Hi. Can we please look at a specific example?

In addition to what ebr posted above let us know what OS you have Emby Server installed on and give us a brief description of the PC/NAS running Emby Server. (ie i7 PC or Synology DS920+ NAS)

Im not sure how anyone can take a screenshot of a movie that stops and resumes while playing , other than posting a video somewhere. I have already searched through the knowledge base and the forums without locating a resolution or even someone who specified anything similar with only one type of format stuttering on playback through the Emby player . I did read someone who had file format issues and added an external player through Emby theater ,which does work ,but i cannot add an external player through the web browser, for use on my TV (which is an older model ) . So i was sure if i need to report a problem or has anyone come across this just never been a topic . thats why i posted here first before trying to report a problem
Carlo 4560 Posted August 25, 2021 Posted August 25, 2021 You gave us a few situations. What ebr is asking for is a specific example. For example let's focus on Theater for windows desktop. Change this back to using the internal player (no vlc). While playing back bring up Stats for Nerds from the cog icon. Take a screenshot of that. Lets start with that.
shadowfire36 0 Posted September 5, 2021 Author Posted September 5, 2021 here is the output from web player
Guest Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 (edited) In Theater, change the renderer to GPU and leave the hardware acceleration to auto. Also, in your library setup, you should add the optional shared network folder. Then you'll have true direct play. As for your web browser, the player doesn't support HEVC. shadowfire36 0 Posted September 5, 2021 Author Posted September 5, 2021 Quote In Theater, change the renderer to GPU Ok do this on all machines in my house ? Quote Also, in your library setup, you should add the optional shared network folder This supposed be a Samba mapping or windows mapped network drive ?? i have 11 machines in my house running using emby from Mac, windows ,and Ubuntu , so a little more clarity would help me a tad bit in specifying what should go there (just an example please). Do i need to add \\severname\videoFolderAll \\servename\videoFolderCurrentMoviePlaying mapped Drive letter S:\severname\severMovieMainfolder . And i get the HEVC doesnt work with browsers but i only seem to lag on 1080p so is there a speed up method on the transcoding somewhere ?
