DHos 1 Posted August 23, 2021 Posted August 23, 2021 Streaming to a Samsung 4k tv and activating subtitles causes the stream to change from directplay to transcode. Subtitles are pgssub. Latest Emby for Samsung I have is 1.0.97 (nothing later in Samsung site). Is this an issue with the Samsung Emby app or with the Emby server?
FrostByte 5392 Posted August 23, 2021 Posted August 23, 2021 This is actually an issue with your TV as Samsung has never supported pgssubs. If you look at your user manual you should see several tables, one of them lists the subtitles formats your TV supports. 1

Luke 42077 Posted August 24, 2021 Posted August 24, 2021 Your TV does not support PGS, so that is why you're seeing transcoding. The best way to avoid this would be to acquire text .srt subtitles. Our subtitle download features can help with that.
