jconnin 0 Posted August 21, 2021 Posted August 21, 2021 (edited) Hello, I've been using Emby for a few years. However, my photos are no longer showing up , even where they showed up before. Videos display fine, and audio files play fine - the problem is only with photos. I'm trying to view photos, primarily from folders that only have photos in them, but sometimes from folders with mixed media. The previously generated previews are still displaying, but when I enter a library or directory they are empty in Emby. I believe that the file permissions are not the issue. Here are a few checks that I've done (many results omitted in order to keep this shorter: Checking ownership of files and directories: jconnin@JNET-SERVER:/mnt/Files2-Backup/Windows-Desktop/MyPictures$ ls -l total 330800 drwxrwxr-x 17 jconnin root 4096 Feb 17 2016 '2011 Pictures' drwxrwxr-x 14 jconnin root 4096 Dec 29 2020 2014 drwxrwxr-x 14 jconnin root 4096 Dec 29 2020 2015 drwxrwxr-x 14 jconnin root 4096 Dec 29 2020 2016 drwxrwxr-x 9 jconnin root 4096 Dec 29 2020 2017 -rwxrwxr-x 1 jconnin root 5234848 Sep 6 2017 '2017 bus.jpg' -rwxrwxr-x 1 jconnin root 6788590 Oct 19 2016 4HKids.jpg -rwxrwxr-x 1 jconnin root 17272532 Nov 26 2012 band2012.bmp -rwxrwxr-x 1 jconnin root 1624943 Nov 26 2012 band2012.jpg Checking groups that owner is part of: jconnin@JNET-SERVER:/mnt/Files2-Backup/Windows-Desktop/MyPictures$ groups jconnin adm cdrom sudo dip plugdev lpadmin sambashare media Checking groups that emby is part of: jconnin@JNET-SERVER:/mnt/Files2-Backup/Windows-Desktop/MyPictures$ groups emby emby : emby video jconnin media render Here is an example of a folder that has displayed images previously, but not anymore. It does, however, display videos that are in the folder. What do I need to do in order to show photos again? Thank you for any help you can provide! Edited August 21, 2021 by jconnin
jconnin 0 Posted August 21, 2021 Author Posted August 21, 2021 OK - I found what I think is a "compromise" solution. I looked through the logs and noticed several "duplicate folders" mentioned. I had a created a library of all of my photos (/mnt/Files2-Backup/Windows-Desktop/MyPictures), as well as a library for each of our recent family trips, such as (/mnt/Files2-Backup/Windows-Desktop/MyPictures/2020/Oregon-Washington-Combined), which are subdirectories of the MyPictures directory. The reason being that it makes it much easier to show visitors our photos from a specific trip than it would to start at the top level and work down. However, after I deleted all of the libraries that I wasn't using in the near future (which eliminated duplicates), I was able to scan and then view the photos from the specific trip that I want to view. This works fine for my current situation, but it also seems like my previous arrangement should be OK. Why wouldn't it be OK to have two or more libraries reference the same photo?
