DrBoneSaw 2 Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 I'm currently running emby-service-beta 4.7.0.7 from the AUR and would like to know how the emby-server-flatpak_4.7.0.7_x86_64.flatpak compares? If I can avoid having Emby built every time there is an update That would be great. Thanks
Luke 42078 Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 Hi, what do you mean by avoid having Emby built?
DrBoneSaw 2 Posted August 16, 2021 Author Posted August 16, 2021 the AUR beta for Emby is built / compiled rather than just an installer. Not sure how much you know about Arch but a lot of programs you can only get as raw code which is compiled by the system then installed. That's the best way I know how to explain it.
Luke 42078 Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 I don't think the packaging method will cause you any specific problem. Is it just that it takes longer?

You mean building it takes longer. I mainly wanted to know that everything in the normal installs for Linux are in your flatpak.

DrBoneSaw 2 Posted August 17, 2021 Author Posted August 17, 2021 Simply no to docker. I've been looking at trying out Artix Linux a non systemd Arch based distro using the runit init system. I looked at Docker and was extremely unimpressed for various reasons.
