SMTV91 15 Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 Hi everyone, I've been having issues over the past few weeks with database failures and having to recreate my database. I've posted about this issue before but this latest issue has me a bit stumped. I've rebuilt my database about 3 times over the past month alone. This included starting over from scratch and rescanning as well as moving the database and allowing Emby to rebuild. I tried deleting the -shm and -wal files but that didn't work. I then tried to use the DB Brower SQLite editor but it cannot access my database saying it is locked. I also tried following what this user did but nothing worked: My logs are attached for any help they can provide. Honestly I'm at a loss right now... embyserver.txt
Happy2Play 9783 Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 You don't need to rebuild your database, just need to figure out why your database is locking. If you shutdown Emby do the -shm and -wal files still exist? Do you by change have more them one instance of Emby launching or trying to run? How do you launch Emby?

Yeah I figured the cause for the locking is what I needed to look into but was stumped when the SQLite editor couldn't access. So when I shut down Emby they disappear. And I checked I only have one instance running. I have it set to auto launch with Task Manager in case of PC shut down otherwise when I shut down the app manually I launch through the desktop shortcut.

Do you have "Run server at startup" enabled also. Dashboard-Settings
SMTV91 15 Posted August 14, 2021 Author Posted August 14, 2021 @Luke Ran through all of the steps with no success. Couldn't do the SQLite editor step as the database is listed as locked. @Happy2Play Run to server at setup not enabled as I have the scheduled task set.

But the only steps from the KB you do for this issue is shutdown Emby and delete the -shm and -wal files nothing else. So if you disabled the scheduled task and launched Emby normally do you have this issue?
SMTV91 15 Posted August 14, 2021 Author Posted August 14, 2021 @Happy2Play I think deleting the scheduled task fixed it. The -shm and -wal files disappeared after shutting down and I'm currently running a scan that it isn't cancelling so fingers crossed. I'll leave the run at startup checked in the Dashboard settings.
