Attached is a transcode log. Hardware acceleration is not being used.

This was HEVC 10-bit media, right? I've seen stuff like this before and was under the impression that Haswell CPUs can't handle HEVC in hardware but perhaps @softworkz has some sneaky tricks up his sleeves.

You should scrub your log to remove your server's public URL (if that's it) and also attach your hardware detection log. Might need to restart Emby to get the HW log if it's been running for a long time.

Appreciate the response... I guess I should be more careful with checking whats in these logs. Not sure about this hardware detection log but will look into it. I guess it might be time recylce a more modern CPU/PC.

Thanks. I think you can remove and update your first attachment for the transcode log to scrub details from the file.

@Luke and @softworkz should review these to figure out why it tried and failed with HEVC. Whether it's a detection problem or something else.

You should also test to make sure HW accel is working for other codecs/formats like h.264.

@Q-Droid

VAAPI is used to transcode most everything except for some of my newer UHD(4K) - this is not a huge issue as the intel NUC I am running the server on is an old piece of hardware and I just decided to move the server over to my windows workstation with a modern nVIdia RTX GPU.

NVENC performance is night and day in comparison.

Cheers,

Brian

@stratumorien - I'd still need a transcode log showing where hwa doesn't work. You can also PM it to me.

PS: You do have an Emby Premiere subscription?

Thanks,
sw
