HEVC on non-4k Fire Sticks Don't transcode properly

Don't have the logs yet - but users have been increasingly getting black screen with just audio. Try to tell them to trancode down to 2/1Mbps - no help, and usually playback error

Everytime I check the filetype its HEVC and its non 4k sticks.

Anybody else seeing this?

Yes they have.

Would it be possible for one of them to try the most recent beta release?

Same Problem.

Got an update from Amazon App store  to 2.0.33 and since then I have this problem.

I than side loaded 2.0.36 but still same Problem.

Before the Amazon Store update everything played just fine.

I have also a non 4K Stick 2 gen.

Okay, you are running the beta server and burning in subs.  There is some experimental stuff in the beta server for this which may be a factor.

Can you try disabling hardware acceleration on your server transcoding?  Or, de-select the subs?

OK I will do that, one minute.

@ Edit

did what you asked but still only sound with black screen.

Hi.  What do you mean "it does not update"?

In the "cog" menu during playback, there should be an option to send logs.

Hi.  Please use the cog menu to send a log from the app as described here.

Thanks.

Sorry what is the fix for this? Still happening on all HEVC non 4k Sticks. Server is on stable build via docker - clients are all up to date.

Server does not use Hardware transcoding.

Hi. Check for an update on your Amazon device.  Be sure you are running 2.0.38a of the app.

Thanks.

This issue has been solved with latest 2.0.38a client app on Fire TVs. Ty!

But lol - I'm opening a new thread now - since update users are reporting extremely slow start times on streams - like 3-5 mins sometimes.

1 User confirmed this issue only exists on Fire and not Roku - so shes on same server just diff client app. Will open other thread.
