johnwinstondarb 0 Posted August 4, 2021 Posted August 4, 2021 Greetings, I didn't see a KB or post about this, so am asking here: I have Emby Server installed and config'd on a Windows system. I have Emby on my iPhone. When I login with Emby Connect on my Emby mobile app, I don't see my server displayed; instead I am presented with the option to add server (I am not on the same subnet as my computer) and the option to (again) login using Emby Connect. The question: what server config steps permit mobile (remote devices) to see the Emby server content. Thank you, JohnD

Thank you, JohnD https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44002137137-remote-setup Hi, This would be the main one. Emby Connect isn't going to do anything for you unless you have remote access working and tested. 1
johnwinstondarb 0 Posted August 4, 2021 Author Posted August 4, 2021 Thanks Cayars. I created the port forwarders for 8920 and 8096 on my router, pointing to my Windows Emby host. On canyouseeme.org, I see success with response from port 8096, but negative response from port 8920. I also turned off my firewall and uninstalled my malware/virus protection. I tested to see if this is an ISP block, using tracert 8.8.8.8. none of the addresses showed cgNAT (reply from 10. 192. or 172.) and the trace route resoled fully to Google DNS. The other observation, is from my cell-only (not wifi) connection, when I point my iPhone's Emby app to the external address of my router, the UI asks me for username/password, but rejects it. I am unsure if I am seeing a auth rejection or 'can't reach the auth source' type problem. Thanks so much! johnD
Carlo 4561 Posted August 4, 2021 Posted August 4, 2021 Hi, 8920 won't be available unless using a domain and you have setup an SSL certificate. Make sure the user you're trying to login with has been granted remote access. This option is on the first page (access) of the user menu when you edit a user.
johnwinstondarb 0 Posted August 4, 2021 Author Posted August 4, 2021 Thanks Cayars, thanks for the understanding about 8920. Something worked...the last thing I did was re-do the Emby Connect username/email; the UI replied the local account is now connected to the EMBY Connect account. Sure thought I had done that before. I am now seeing server video content on my mobile device. Thank you! JohnD
Carlo 4561 Posted August 4, 2021 Posted August 4, 2021 Awesome, glad you got everything working. Happy Streaming! 1
