Tenyrsgone27 19 Posted August 2, 2021 Posted August 2, 2021 I noticed that Emby server is now automatically creating collections/sets when you add multiple movies of the same set to your library. Is there any way to turn this off? I looked in the advanced section and see you can only change the # of movies before it will auto create a collection/set. I create all my own collections/sets in Emby and do not need the server to do it for me. Tenyrsgone27
Happy2Play 9780 Posted August 2, 2021 Posted August 2, 2021 Are you saying you don't see this option per library? Once Collections are made all you can do is delete them via the UI to properly update the media nfo to remove the <set> node that creates the Collection.
Tenyrsgone27 19 Posted August 2, 2021 Author Posted August 2, 2021 Yes I do and I have it unchecked but it's still creating a collection. It still created a collection yesterday.

That option is available/visible only with TMDB scraper enabled.

Tenyrsgone27 19 Posted August 2, 2021 Author Posted August 2, 2021 Yes, I use TMM with TMDB to scrape my movies before loading them in Emby and I do create the NFO. That could be why?

Tenyrsgone27 19 Posted August 2, 2021 Author Posted August 2, 2021 Just went through the NFO and I don't see <set> node anywhere. Says at the top Standalone = Yes, not sure if that means anything.

Not sure what is happening then, with the import option disabled the only way a collection is made is from a existing <set> node. Or at least in all my testing.
Carlo 4561 Posted August 2, 2021 Posted August 2, 2021 Are you sure you're looking at a movie that is currently part of a collection? 1

Tenyrsgone27 19 Posted August 2, 2021 Author Posted August 2, 2021 (edited) Ok, that's cool. As long as I know it's TMM doing it. I can just delete the collection when it creates it. It's not a ton, I just noticed it the other day it happened after I had already created the collection. Thanks all for the feedback and information! Edited August 2, 2021 by Tenyrsgone27

Or just don't scrape it in the first place, untick "Movie set" in Settings>Scraper Options>Metadata Scrape Defaults. 3
moviefan 187 Posted August 2, 2021 Posted August 2, 2021 Where does it then store this information? Just in local metadata files? I've noticed Emby automatically adding some series but have been confused about where this data remains. It is simply in the DB somewhere?

Item nfo files will store the collection it is assigned to via the <set> node/s. If you do not write nfo files then it would be ItemLinks in the database (but don't know exactly how the links are created in the database). xml metadata is a slightly different story. Luke 42077 Posted August 6, 2021 Posted August 6, 2021 Xml metadata is not going to work with collections. It has not been updated with the newer features that nfo's have related to this.
Bingie 99 Posted August 6, 2021 Posted August 6, 2021 TMM? What's that? Sounds like I'm missing a cool app thanks

Tenyrsgone27 19 Posted August 6, 2021 Author Posted August 6, 2021 Tiny Media Manager (TMM) It's a great free program, I use it for all my movies and TV series. Really help with when Emby scrapes the movie or series.
Bingie 99 Posted August 6, 2021 Posted August 6, 2021 "find TV shows and episodes in subdirectories" they just magically appear? sounds like yet another app that automatically downloads stuff, I'm missing out on that too, whatever it is I'm still doing everything manually, one at a time. Oh well, it takes time, lots to learn!

Or to rephrase it: not using TMM's strongest set of features.

It all comes down to preferences. But TMM IS extremely powerful tool. Edited August 6, 2021 by GrimReaper76 Typo
Bingie 99 Posted August 6, 2021 Posted August 6, 2021 Thanks, I'll check those out next. I'm still having a blast learning OBS, it captures streams brilliantly. Totally pleased with it.
GrimReaper 4739 Posted August 6, 2021 Posted August 6, 2021 Just now, Bingyyyy said: Thanks, I'll check those out next. Emby does pretty good job of that by itself, there is generally no need to grab a 3rd-party app unless you're really keen on meticulously curating your collection or having the urge to scratch that itch, or you want to automate certain processes. And I reckon over time it'll only get better, you might as well spare yourself of somewhat steep learning curve for yet another application.
Carlo 4561 Posted August 6, 2021 Posted August 6, 2021 It's funny, of all the pre-processing and special care I do to files before adding them to Emby I've never felt the need to pre-scrape an NFO file for them as I've not really had issue with Emby creating the NFOs for me. Anything specifically you use it for that's an advantage over Emby? Do you use it for things like expanded meta-data or downloading graphics from different locations or pulling trailers down?
