sargenthp 35 Posted August 1, 2021 Posted August 1, 2021 Hello, I have a folder that I have many videos and photos of the kids growing up. I also have a profile for the family that says to not show the content if the rating of the file is missing. Because of this the kids cannot see the home videos and photos without me individually selecting the hundreds of files and updating the Metadata. As my "Parent" account I can see all. Is there a way to update metadata recursively? Could we add an option to a Library to mark them all as a parent rating of what we want them to be? Thank you. 1
GrimReaper 4763 Posted August 1, 2021 Posted August 1, 2021 Lack of in-built bulk metadata editor has been a topic for quite some time (open FR dating back to 2015:) In your particular scenario, I reckon Tag-based access control could be a more sensible approach, as community contributed taggging tool by @VicMoore will enable you to mass-tag items, latest version can be found here:

Allow the ability to tag an entire library as well. I have a similar problem in that I want to share only some Movies with my parents, but allow them to see all Photos. Unfortunately that scenario isn't possible because as soon as I tag a Movie to share with them, I can no longer share the photos unless I tag EVERY photo. Vic's bulk tagger is decent, but it still requires going into hundreds of folders and manually tagging. Not exactly ideal just to share photos with family. 2
