Can Emby detect a new Folder when it´s USB ?

Hi,

since space is slowly becoming an issue for my DS918+, I added a 5TB WD Hard Disk via USB on the NAS /usbshare1, I made it a shared Folder called /New, which is recognized easy via Plex or Infuse, but when I want to add the path of USB/Drive or now Folder New to an existing Library with /New , it says path is not recognized, but like I said Plex is finding it and Infuse as well, Emby is activated via Systemuser, which is now a new thing you have to do in DSM7, so I don´t find the error unless USB Mapping is not supported, but I can´t imagine this since it´s working in Plex and Infuse.

Anybody with a solution ? all others 11 Libraries I use work fine and I already compared all the Settings from the Libraries that are recognized with the one /New Folder, they are all the same.

Hi, when you add the USB3 drives to Synology they should show up like this

Then in Emby Server you can add them to a library like this

You can ignore the "Poolpart" folder in each of the above folders as these drives were originally being used on Windows running Stablebit DrivePool.

Does this help?

Hi,

thanks for your help, the problem is, I renamed that usbshare1, I´m pretty sure that was the name to "New" and for some reason it seems I can´t take this back, I already took the hard drive to my PC and formatted again, but when I put it back in my NAS it´s recognized as "NEW", so I don´t see the former path it had as a USBshare and /New wont cut it for Emby to find it it seems, altough all my other shares are easy to find.

I don´t know if this is also important, I run emby via dockers, could not get it to work with the emby server alone because I could not create the User "emby" since it already existed and is used by the system, I think this was the error message

If it were me I'd run the native Synology package vs docker on that box as it's easier and the code is written specifically for it the platform.

If installing from the Emby installer there is no need to create a new user as the installer will create the internal emby user.

If you need some help getting this started we could do a remote support session and get this installed, set permissions for your folders and get a library or two started.

Will I lose any of my work I have put in, into my library or can this easily be restored ?

It looks like you aren't selecting the volume "New" is associated with in the above pic.

How many libraries do you have setup?

Ok I tried it again directly with the emby server app and this time it worked, took me forever to set it all up again ,but now I have it clean, I also had no problem adding the usb share this time one last thing though, I have a folder with my own homemade videos and for this videos, of course there will be no covers found, but what do I have to do to just see the the video thumbnail of each videos,

all these videos look like this, but at least I would jsut see the plain look of the video thumbnail
