No playable items found only with new AppleTV on Emby 4.5.4

I have a an odd issue. My friend connects to my emby server which is 4.5.4. he just swapped out an older Shield for a new AppleTV. When he launches Emby and connects he is getting the newer "Next Up" options that I thought were only for 4.6.4 servers. Under continue watching or Next up (legacy) anything he tries to play says "no playable items found." But navigating to an item or playing from "Next up" works. His old client still works fine with "continue watching."

Hi, the AppleTV will almost certainly need to transcode a lot of the media that the Shield TV can direct play.  So that brings up the question.
Do you have transcoding turned off on your server for this user?

But this has nothing to do with it playing from one location but not another location.

Do yo say that the item cannot be played from the "Continue Watching" row but if you look for the item in the library you can? It seems that it is due to the changes of the application for server version 4.6. I can't test because I don't have a 4.5.x server.

Transcoding is enabled and confirmed functional.

That is correct. Items can be played from "Next up" but not from "continue watching" nor from "Next up (legacy)." I too found it odd that next up was even appearing because I thought the server had to be v4.6.x for "next up" to even appear in the client.

Have you been going back and forth between the two versions of the server on the same installation?

No I haven't. Anytime I've reverted/rolled back it's with a complete restore of the /config mapped volume on the host (I'm using docker.)

I have not. My hosting provider had a major outage this weekend taking my San down with it. It's in the process of rebalancing now.

That's unfortunate.  Hopefully things work out ok and everything comes back up properly!
