When searching for subtitles I have to scroll through a massive list of countries I will never need subtitles for. I

Is it possible to remove the countries from this list?

I am running Emby on a linux server and quite happy to edit files/database if required to remove this list. It's extremely cumbersome having to press the down button on the remote control 40 times every time I want to search for subs.

But you can set a default language for subtitles search on each library settings.

It's not currently possible but the server will remember previous selections when manually downloading subtitles so that you don't need to specify the language every time.

This is something I'd like to see implemented as well.  On my server for example I have no need for anything other than English and don't really want clients to be able to download any but what I want/allow.

Not a big deal, but would be nice.

Here is a specific example problem.

I am watching a series and want to find subtitles even if the hash doesn't match. I have English and Swedish checked but when I go to the CC on the Android TV I have to manually search for subs. I get presented with a list of countries and have to scroll down to Swedish every single time and search for subs. Then I fix the position offset once I have found a sub that works. The problem is I need to do this for every episode.

Why don't you set this up to download both English and Swedish subs for the whole library?

I have thought of that but two things:

1. Will it download every conceivable subtitle match if hash check is not used?
2. Opensubtitles requires a paid VIP account to download more than a few subs a day.

Really though, this is a small design flaw on Emby's part. Most people are not interested in more than a couple of languages for their subtitle use. Why not let us remove unnecessary languages from our client lists by editing them server side? It would be easier to fix that then come up with needless workarounds.

I don't need subtitles for everything on my server anyway. They are for someone else's benefit.

Only one subtitle per language (or none, if hash match is required and there are no matches) will ever be downloaded, IIRC by logic Hash > Name > IMDB Id, and if there are multiple matches, first one returned from provider will be used.

Again, IIRC Opensubtitles limit on free tier is either 100 or 200 daily; if you don't want to go VIP (which also has a limit, I think it's on 1000/day), you will still get all subtitles over time after Download missing subtitles has run several times (how long that will take depends on the size of your library).
