Bingie 99 Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 I have two versions of a movie, and it gave me the option to "split" the versions, and created two different selections. On the pc, you can see the difference at the bottom (file info), but on the ROKU app, they are literally identical (no file info at bottom). I wish to un-split the versions. I tried removing a version, re-scanned libraries, then put it back, re-scanned again, but they are still split. How do I tell Emby to *not* split multiple versions of a movie? Thanks
crusher11 1102 Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 Multi select them and then select "Group versions" from the three-dot menu.
Happy2Play 9785 Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 How are they named? But I believe once split apart you have to manually group them back together. 1

That did the trick They are named according to Emby requirements for versions, using a dash '-' to seperate movie name and version info... name of movie - version info
Happy2Play 9785 Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 Thanks for the follow-up. If any grouped item is ever split apart you will have to manually regroup.
Luke 42086 Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 As soon as you split or merge something manually, you're going to be handling that content manually from there on out.

What does that mean? All future versions of any movies will be one way vs. the other? That sounds like a good idea. I can't imagine (yet) having some split and others not. Otherwise, for a full reset, just delete the library, and let emby re-scan it all over again, which can take a long time for big libraries on slow cpu's, but still an option, maybe?
Luke 42086 Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 It means if you split or merge something, it will never again be automatically handled via file name and you'll have to continue to split or merge that particular video as your library changes.
Bingie 99 Posted July 26, 2021 Author Posted July 26, 2021 (edited) per particular file name, I can live with this! what about removing all versions, re-scan, then add them back... still manual mode? not too worried about it, but while we are on the topic... thanks Edited July 26, 2021 by Bingyyyy
Bingie 99 Posted July 26, 2021 Author Posted July 26, 2021 I think I can answer my own last question... I didn't see any global group versions option anywhere, so yes, per selection, by filename. Good enough for me. 1
