Music playlists on randomized playback don't play all songs

Hi, i recorgnized that the random playback of larger playlists don't play every song in the playlist.

I have playlists with over 400 songs but also with 1000 songs and i listen before sleeping so i use my phone. I can't say if this is only with the phone or general.

I start to play the list in random playback and sometimes i am waiting for a specific song but then the list is at the end without playing my song. This is something i had a few times now.
First i was wondered why my 700 songs list is done so fast if i skip a few songs but no way to skip that much songs so yesterday i was waiting for a specific song and the list was done before the song came up.

Manually selecting the song from the list plays fine, but it is not only this song, there are many songs i recorgnized not to be played but everytime different songs so it is not a problem with the songs at all.



Anyone else recorgnized that?

So you have playlists that can last 20 to 50 hours, and you are concerned that a particular song doesn't come up while you are going to sleep?  And you can play a thousand songs and be confident that you didn't doze off or lose concentration when a particular one played?  I don't really get it...

Anyway, randomisation is a surprisingly tricky thing.  If each song to be played next is chosen randomly, then there is the possibility of many songs being repeated before other songs are played at all - that's what random is.  There are other possibilities, like randomising the list once then playing it through, but this might be repeated on each partial play, so a similar problem can arise.

Yes i listen to music in bed but i don't listen 20 hours, i have the phone in my hand and skip a lot of tracks to get to my wanted tracks, yes i could also search for it but thats not the point.

These songs are really not showing up, and there are no repeated songs, i think this is a temporary generated randomized list out of my normal playlist because you would recorgnize it if a song plays the 5th time while others don't show up.

However the randomize function is not really playing all songs. I don't listen till i fall asleep, i have the phone and just listen music before i sleep. So i swear there are songs missing in randomized playback.

Hi.  When randomizing a very large list of songs you are correct, we do not play them all.  We limit the number to something "reasonable" after it is shuffled.  So, the entire list is being randomized and then the first probably 500-1000 of them are played.
