Problems with multichannel sound

Since switching to an AndroidTV device (Android before) I'm having issues when watching a movie which has multichannel sound.

I'm using a Bluetooth headset all the time. On the old system this was no problem but on the new system the audio is played through the TV speakers instead through the headset.

Maybe someone has an idea?

Edit: Is there any option to set it to downmix to stereo or similar?

Hi, Can you go over in more detail what device you were using before and which client?

And then what client and software app you are using now?

Settings (Cog icon) > Playback > Audio Output > Downmix to stereo.

The device I used before was a Formuler Z8 and now I'm using a Formuler GTV

I don't have that setting. The whole Audio Output is missing.

Version I'm using is 2.0.09g

Hi.  That means you are already downmixing to stereo as that is the only option being reported.

Does sound via your headphones work in other apps?

Sound in other apps is working. Emby material with 2 Ch audio is working as well.

Can you please play something with this problem for just a few seconds and then send a log from the app?

Thanks.

I have enabled the debug options, played a file for 15-20s and then selected send logs. I hope that's what you need.

Hi.  I'm not sure why it isn't working for you but this is also a non-standard device so that is a wildcard.  From the logs, we are sending the audio out and the app knows you are using a headset.  It should be working.

Okay, that sounds like a strange issue. First I asked the support if Formuler for possible help but they told me it must be an Emby issue.

Is there anything on my side which I can change or test?

I have asked a friend to stream the exact same content on his GTV system with headphones.

// Due to his setup it's not the exact same file because he only has a FHD setup. But the audio line is the same. The settings on the GTV are the same.

When he output the more detailed statistics it shows that it's downmixed to stereo. That's what missing on mine. I have added the two pictures.

First picture is mine, second is his.

His is remuxing, yours is direct playing.  Also, it would appear that he is running an older version of the app as an audio incompatibility shouldn't cause a remux anymore.

I just tried an external video player (MX Player Pro) and the sound is working there. It's a strange issue.

And therein lies the problem: if it's direct playing, meaning device is multichannel-audio capable,  why doesn't OP have the Audio Output settings section to select Downmix, and if it ain't capable, how can it be Direct Playing, and not remuxing?

I'm adding another screenshot from my Formuler Z8 device where everything is working correctly. Same headset. It looks pretty much the same as the one from the GTV.

That's interesting, thanks for supplying that info.

My current solution is to use an external player on those videos where I have problems with.

Hi.  At this point, I'm not sure what the difference is but it appears to be specific to that exact device model.

I'm in contact with Sony and they are trying some things via remote administration. So far nothing has helped. It's a strange error 😥
