It'd be great if server admins could generate a QR code for a user to scan with their app to connect to a server, without using EmbyConnect.1 point

If you click on a genre without an image, are there any media posters in the genre or is it empty? The genre names come from imdb.com. Media content gets these genres automatically when correctly named content is added to an Emby library. If you have an odd content name then that media may not get an genres at all. You can fix the media by assigning an identity to it, but if the name still stays incorrect, you could lose the genre with an Emby update and rescanning the Media. That could explain why some media was listed in a genre and then lost it. I think the same issue can happen with music. Another way to get empty genre collections would be if the admin created genre with a name they like, but it is not a standard genre group recognized online. In that case no songs would ever get automatically assigned that genre name. Finally another way is if there are actually some items in genres with no images, then that music or media could have been added recently and a full scan has not been run to update the genre with an image. You can also right click, I believe, on a genre and do an update. That can generate a new image, but the image will not always appear right away. You may also have to force refresh the page to show a just made genre image. Hope that helps.1 point

We are tossing around design ideas on this type of thing right now. Can't promise any time table yet but we are in process.1 point

I have also now switched to Music Assistant thanks to the new Emby plugin for Music Assistant. Favorites and playlists from Emby are synced to Music Assistant. Its great!1 point

The Sisvel Patent pool..and the fact that Dolby is currently suing Snapchat over their use of AV1 and the patents they infringed upon.. https://ipfray.com/dolby-sues-snapchat-over-av1-and-hevc-patent-infringement-in-u-s-and-brazil-access-advance-vdp-license-would-resolve-issue/ Is that enough information?1 point

Downloading the videos works, thanks. My Windows 10 notebook with latest Chrome didn't like playing it in the browser. Aspecta is really nice. Good work. I had a setup with surround and 65" Panasonic with blu-ray that had RCA audio out, running to separate amps and full size two and 3 way speakers. It was nice, but most of it is in storage now for the last 2 1/2 years. Moving to a new place, without a job and trying to find a large enough living room, is challenging.1 point

Having recently bought a Snapdragon laptop, I'm joining in on the bandwagon to request an ARM64 build as well.1 point

Hi, yes, I’m making progress. I still need a few more days to clean things up properly. In the next update, Shorts should be detected correctly.1 point

I think the first step is to expand on this log statement: And print the time that it should fire.1 point

I read the OP's request as more about making it easier for users of apps to sign in, not to direct someone to a web page (which as you rightly point out can already easily be done hence why I don't believe it is OP's request). Unless your emby url is https://a.at it is a PITA to have to use the TV remote to type in the URL, username and password, especially if you're using minimum complexity and length rules for passwords. Would love a QR code on the TV to sign in. FireTV has the remote keyboard option which is nicer than TV remote (FireTV in general is though). But something ala Apple TV would be great where you can just scan the QR code via the emby app on an already signed in device and the TV is connected to your emby instance and signed into your account. Similarly, to sign into the app on a phone/tablet, having a per user QR code at the bottom of the "App Settings" page would make it easier.1 point

hey @visproduction Basically you would select your screens aspect ratio In the app. This is a set and forget menu. You would then set emby to use an external player and open with Aspecta Cinema Player. The content would then adapt to your screen. See example from The Dark Knight Rises switching between 2.39:1 and 16:9. (i understand this is not the directors intent in this example but just wanted to show how seamless the Aspect Ratio detection and switching is) https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PnnvxG16CAkqxpgLyHHKTiYkW3VGFBqn/view?usp=sharing1 point

What is the local dns entry configured on? Is it on your router or a separate device? Will need a bit more information about your network setup to understand why this is happening.1 point

My use case looks something like this: Emby is the family library for all videos and photos organized by year and subfolder=topic or event. There are 10s of thousands of media items. The vast majority of these have no metadata (other than "technical" metada which is not user input), but there is a very small subset that has some valuable metadata that is searchable. The hope is that this metadata somehow can be preserved if for example the media are moved to a new folder structure or new instance of Emby. The metadata I am talking about is descriptive, not technical. I am thinking that this would only lead to a limited set of NFO files if they were to be supported for images and not major "pollution". (I am assuming that an NFO file only would be created if a user manually enters metadata through Emby).1 point

Update. I got an Apple TV, and also a Roku Ultra to replace my aging Roku Streaming Stick. The Roku Streaming Stick was about 8 years old and by now tediously laggy with a Harmony remote. The Apple TV is great for most things, and works with Prime, which the Roku region locks me out of. However, it butchers any fancy sounds streams by decoding everything. My lovely DTS-ES, flattened. The Roku Ultra is great for movies on Emby, and if I have to surgically remove a forced subtitle stream, no biggie. Much better sound through a receiver.1 point

UPDATE, I: 1. Uninstalled Emby for windows 2. Installed Emby Beta for windows 3. Emby Beta for windows would not load past the splash screen – the same problem I was having with Emby for windows (stable) 4. As Windows Admin, ran DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth 5. As Windows Admin, ran sfc /scannow. Result = “Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them” 6. Restarted Windows 7. Emby Beta for windows now works.1 point

I just want to give my 5c to this topic. I battle with the same kind of problem. Per default recordings with no offset often cut off parts of it, so you have to a minute in front and behind. But i find it really ugly, especally for series to have nonsense in front and back of it. Running it through an editor doesnt scale, especialy with things like av1. Never seen good quality from an editor where the final file isnt bloated, so you have to export it with with reallyhigh quality and let it run through handbrake, to get a file with good quality ( which allready has several conversions on that file ) and acceptable size without using old stuff like h264. Its more like at least 20-30m per episode and multiply that for several hundred files, that doesnt scale. Tagging a file with a Start / End Time would be an awesome thing, since the status quo wont make me use the recording feature at all. To get a good experience, i would have to edit every single file and thats throwing much times onto a problem, which would be easily solved with a simple marker to set. Embys recording features, especially those features about missing Episodes are really really great. As a user you would like to use that as soon as you recognize the usefullness of these settings. That 1 in 5000 example is universal. You could block every feature in every software with this argument. I see it more like a missing piece in the recording area. I will let emby record stuff, but i will not merge those files in directories my family os looking at, cause they would get anoyed from those starts and endings. Maybe 1 in 5000 is using it exactly because of that. I have to agree with muppet4k, such a feature would make the recording function lenghts better1 point

Thank you for following up. Since the app on my pad behaved differently than the app on my Sony TV and your answer I did check. My TV app is now updated. I asket AI for the last version and got this years newest from April. Now the chapters stay open. I appologize and thank you for your response. Emby is the best since i switched some years ago after a decade using Plex.1 point

I'm a plex life time member, but I have been using Emby for over six years continuously, but there is a feature which I have always thought is missing in Emby which I would like and encourage the developer to consider including especially in this dispensation where families can social or commingle due to COVID 19. Today, I received a notification from Plex about it new feature titled Watch together you can read about it here https://support.plex.tv/articles/watch-together/ The feature allows friends and families at distance to watch same movies together instantly, you simply invite all your buddy, once they signed to the system which can be seeing in the server then play and pause as needed, this I think is cool feature should be added to emby. Let's here your though if Emby developer should consider adding this feature to our beloved Emby Media https://www.bing.com/news/search?q=Plex+Watch+Together&qpvt=plex+watch+together&FORM=EWRE1 point

So no issues with trakt on web app where you input the URL and port works as it should, no issues with trakt on android smartphone runs as it should no issues with Emby for fire stick runs as it should, just webos does not allow clicking of trakt in settings - trakt so cannot input the key generated by trakt and as you can not click no logs generated1 point

Hello Support Team, First of all, Thank you for a grate product. I have been using emby for the last couple of years after trying all the other competitors apps (Kodi, Jellyfin & Plex) It's clean, simple to use and just works! My main issue now is regarding security, I'm publishing my server using reverse proxy (as most) and I have no way of protecting against unwanted access. I do use signed public certificate on the server & proxy and I'm interested of utilize MTLS so only clients with allowed certificate will gain access to the server through the proxy. As was mentioned previously on this post Most platform supports Client Base Authentication (Mobile, PCs & most TVs) and the missing ingredient is Clients Apps support. I'm sure a lot of emby users will be glad to add protection to there servers in order to defend from unwanted/malicious access.1 point

This was never fixed, in latest android unified app 95% of clients are non stop ghosts but now with bonus feature, now you don't have controls at all (stop pause, etc..) Look at it as "new feature" /s0 points
