This doesn't equalize out any of the relevant differences, unfortunately. Desktop environments, Window managers, Display server: x11, Wayland - none of this goes away. It's rather that flatpak and snap have their own specifics, so for each it's like developing for an additional platform - not to speak of supporting. We have those AppImage packages, but as said, it requires implementing an update mechanism. Package building for Snap is done by 70% btw, but there always comes a point where you need to draw a line and think about what you (we) will be able to support reasonably - especially for the initial release of an all-new application. The effort for development has been substantial already, and when the outcome would be that I'd have to respond to user issues on a daily basis - because I'm the only one who can answer certain questions, then that would be a self-built trap. I think we have achieved a decent amount of platform coverage - which is more difficult than on any other OS (in case of desktop GUI apps) - something like 80%, and a good level in terms of quality - which is important - and much better than trying to go for 100% while ending up with a software having quirks and bugs everywhere and then running behind, trying to get everything fixed, yet failing to do so. On Linux, those 80% are served by a few players only (both, distros and DEs), for the remaining 20%, the variety is increasing exponentially, with hundreds of distros where you can only fail when trying to support everything. Right to the point. There are other tasks that are really pressing and which people are waiting for. The overarching achievement with this app is that it marks a milestone on a roadmap for the unification of client apps upon a common platform. After Window and Xbox, the Linux app is the third app on this new platform, which allows us to move faster in development, delivering innovations and also ensures continuity across platforms where apps for smaller platforms will directly benefit from work on other apps and features. In other words: it won't happen again that the Emby Linux app will become orphaned and outdated like it happened to the legacy ER app for Linux. That's the outlook and the bright side, even when we cannot satisfy everybody's desire immediately.3 points

Hii In Plex we can now put multiple editions of movie and they are treated as separate movies, for that we need to put {edition-xxxxx} at the end of the video. When can we expect the same feature in the emby? A link to the Plex page regarding the same is given below https://support.plex.tv/articles/multiple-editions/1 point

I've been wanting to move over to Android Emby (mobile) from Emby Android TV, but one thing that's been preventing me is the ugly media type symbols/icon overlays on folders and video files. I have a library of NFL games and use the Home videos & photos category because I have to / choose to find and insert my own fanart. But when I go into the NFL library on each season folder is an overlay of a folder icon in the upper left corner of the season picture. And also when I drill into a season, each video file picture has a movie icon overlay in the upper left corner, too. Just ruins the aesthetic seeing those little icon overlays on everything. TV and movie libraries using their respective categories don't have the overlays. Is there a way to remove them? Or could this be an added feature in a future update to toggle off? On Emby Android TV, there are no overlays of file or video icons. I've attached pictures to show you what I mean and I know they're from my phone's Emby, but the same app on my Nvidia Shield does the same thing.1 point

At least an official statement regarding the bug and its fix is needed. They said it would be fixed a month ago, and nothing has been done since. LG users are constantly experiencing problems; sometimes we feel abandoned.1 point

I'm still having the same issue after the LG .50 update. It no longer has the strange characters in the subs but they're still positioned in the top left corner and it's putting most of it off screen1 point

I've made no changes in the past 2 days and now all channels are getting full guide data. This is frustrating b/c as noted, I've changed nothing. will monitor for a few days and if there are no further issues, will consider this closed.1 point

Your AC3 shows up as EAC3 Dolby Atmos in your remux log. I think Atmos is the problem. See: https://support.emby.media/support/articles/LG-Why-not-Atmos.html?q=atmos Other related dscussions on this online: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=Dolby+Digital+AC3+audio+convert+Emby&ia=web Solution may be to remux the audio to another codec and save new media verisons. I don't deal with Atmos. This is a guess.1 point

First and foremost: 1. This is heavily vibe-coded with the help of Claude Sonnet 4.5 and just a proof of concept (though it's fully functional on my side)! 2. Tested with stable Server 4.9.1.80 on a 1080p-Screen 3. Pretty sure that the code is not the best and shpuld be reviewed by anyone with good js-Skills. 4. This Banner just works on the Web Client. I hope one of the experienced devs here can make more out of it, e.g. a Plugin. Perhaps something like that can be incorporated as a menu option by Emby itself in the future. What the Spotlight does: On every Homepage load the Spotlight takes 10 items (Movies/TV Shows) from 50 latest Releases in the library and displays them as a slideshow. Banner is clickable to get to the item detail screen. Ratings are also included. Bumping this. I noticed a few other threads around with a similar discussion. I know of the licensing issues faced by rockchip and FFmpeg. But would like to link here to other threads talking about this so as to make it easier for others to find this. If anyone like my has been searching for this, basically hang in there but don't expect anything soon...1 point

What part of can't be replicated don't you understand? The fact they don't know what's causing it means they can't replicate the problem to see it in action so they can attempt to fix it. All they can do is look at the logs and check to see if there are any errors that should not be there. I'd say you're being difficult just for the sake of being difficult. A 2 year commitment for such a problem without replacing said hardware with known hardware that works is pretty stubborn. Some issues just can't be fixed, specially if the dev team can't figure out what is causing it. You've already been told by several high profile users to just stop using pgssubs on your Roku, and yet you still demand to have it working.1 point

Agree. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, hoping it will be implemented soon1 point

Oh and comictagger is using the comic vine API, looks like it could be a decent metadata source for emby if anyone wanted to write a plugin for it. https://comicvine.gamespot.com/api/1 point
-
There is external software to tag comics with metadata, like this https://github.com/comictagger/comictagger However, I do not know how these tags are stored and if emby reads them. I do not have a comics library myself so I can't test it either.1 point

Are they, though? Quite often TMDB is the only one that exists, which is certainly better than nothing.1 point

Okay, thank you very much. I hope you can fix this problem as soon as possible.1 point

It was likely merged/multi-versioned with some other item in your library. What are your library enabled meta-downloaders and in what order? If you don't have many multi-version movies, you can filter for duplicates and find the one that doesn't belong/should not have multiple versions.1 point

Know you guys are usually pretty good at responding but not sure if you read my rant. What do you want me to send an example of? I can't even use it anymore for recording because of my situation mentioned so was more of a question of what others are using based on what I mentioned.1 point

New release - Version 2.2.1.0. Download .dll here: https://github.com/soderlund91/AutoTag/releases/tag/v2.2.1.0 Also attached to this post Bug fixes: Cache: Resolved a bug where newly created lists returned zero results if the list haven'tbeen populated by MDBList yet. The plugin now forces a fresh fetch to ensure data is displayed as soon as the list is populated. AutoTag.dll1 point

No idea how that setting changed. Or that it mattered. I was able to connect to the server, so I didn't see connectivity as the issue.1 point

I already gave two examples in my previous answer. I want to implement this with one click, without having to go into the filters first.1 point

Technically you do not have to do that assume you are capable of navigating to the system.xml and correcting a config that you applied. But some platforms are not as easy as others. On can break other systems just as easy.1 point

I think the community plugin would be an excellent starting point because it enables people to review where the timestamp has been set and can enable the feature on a per show basis. I’d wish it would be implemented regardless, maybe marked as „experimental“ to make clear that there could be unforeseen errors1 point

Yo! Sorry for the delay! Media fire are basically talking rubbish. They claimed infringment first, I queried their own terms and they basically lied. I'm in the process of looking at a new host but with 2tb of themes, it's proving a little trickier than I'd like. That said, I'm also looking at better moderation as I'm getting a bit sick of random trailers being uploaded so I might look to open contributions to key people that get auto added then have a moderation pile that has to be manually checked before it's made public. I have quite a few ideas in the pipeline but would ideally like to sort the hosting bit out first before I go changing the upload and moderation structure.1 point

I confirm that version 4.10.0.3 BETA does NOT fix the subtitle problem, although version 4.10.0.2 BETA specifies that it fixes problems with subtitles, it seems that they are not these. It's already desperate, we've been like this for 6 weeks. @Lucas1 point

OK, more options to control this are certainly possible. Thanks.1 point

While this is technically true, this isn't a good solution. As pointed out previously, I use Home Video & Photos category for my football games, and my organization of files starts the category of Football, then a folder for the 3 teams I follow and each have several seasons. If I go to video view, it's just a bunch of videos with no organization of any kind. Luke, It's not a matter of differentiating folders from files, it's just wanting to not have those symbols show up on my fanart. I know what are folders and what are files by the mere fact that I built the folder structure on my server and built the Library in Emby. In TV and Movie Libraries, those file and media symbols don't appear on fanart. All I'm asking is for the option to clear them from the fanart I place when using the Library category Home Video & Photos. They don't show up on the Emby Android TV app, why do they on Emby Android?1 point

I've had no real issues with thermals on my laptop and if it does get too high, remember, they throttle to protect the system and would shut off if it gets too high. As for warranty, I paid $140ish for the laptop at the time, and as similar systems are the same price, it would just be downtime for me to swap out to another laptop or move the windows install to a VM and put it on my UNRAID machine. You can get extended warranties on stuff from eBay, at least here in North America. It's a caveat that you are getting something cheaper than you would new, with the possibility it might die quicker. My last laptop I bought during Covid and it is still in use at a friend's house in another province. My current system I bought in October of 2023. I hope you find what you want.1 point

Why would you need this for your family and friends? You only communicate with them on Discord?1 point

Web browsers don't support rendering PGS subtitles. It's not about what "Emby app supports". In the case of the web app, it all depends on what the browser you're using supports.1 point
