FYI I'm working on a patch to update to the latest version and improve parts of the official freebsd package, and will probably be taking over maintenance of the package from now on.

New version (v1.3.0.0) up on yocksers/EmbyCredits Github. Added: More density detection options. Fixed: Density detection should no longer search for part of the command it self sendt to it as well as unwanted "white spaces". Skipping files that already has credit time stamps should now correctly skip files with credit markers not made by the plugin as well.

Major achievements? Honestly, I’m struggling to find any. From a user perspective, 2025 has mostly felt like a year of dodging critical bugs while the features nobody asked for continued to underwhelm. What I’d like to see for 2026 is for the dev team to actually enroll in a Security 101 course. It’s becoming a bit pathetic how often fundamental security best practices are ignored or treated as "low priority" while the community is left to find and document the holes ourselves. For instance, we’re still dealing with: Unauthenticated Access to Private Data: We are literally on page 6 of a thread where anyone can access library images just by knowing an ID. No token, no login, no problem. The response time on fixing basic privacy leaks is glacial. Unauthenticated access to images by itemid Permissions Bypasses: Having "Critical Security Vulnerability" in a thread title regarding Live TV permission bypasses should usually warrant an immediate emergency patch, but here we are. Critical Security Vulnerability: Live TV Permission Bypass PIN Bypasses: The fact that a simple "Home" button press can bypass security PINs is a masterclass in "Security by Wishful Thinking." Security Issue: Using home button makes PIN bypass possible And then there is the "Universal" Android app. It’s truly a "major achievement" to spend years trying to replace the perfectly functional Android TV app with a bloated, stuttering "one size fits none" mobile port. It fails miserably at providing a smooth 10-foot experience, yet the devs seem hell-bent on sunsetting the one version that actually works for TV users. If the goal for 2025 was to prove that a paid product can have slower security responses and worse UI regressions than its free competitors, then mission accomplished. Ultimately, for 2026, the devs need to start concentrating on legitimate bugs and community concerns instead of @Luketreating this like his own personal pet project. This is a paid product with a community of users, not a private sandbox where critical security and usability issues can be hand-waved away just because they don't fit a specific internal vision. Fix the foundation before adding more "achievements" to the pile.

The delete option is disabled by default. Nothing you should worry. When you enable it (what I don't recommend) you have the option to delete content from Emby server manually. Actually it's very reliable, anyway I cannot test each and every use case and delete content is something you cannot undo.

What I ended up doing was having her create a new emby connect account, then putting the new emby connect email address into the email on her user. It looks like this worked.

Hi Quickmic Thanks for the new update. Have a question about the new Sync Themes option that allows you to play movie/tv theme songs. Will there be extra control added to this feature as new updates are rolled out? Reason I ask is that with TVTUNES I can tell it not to play movie theme songs and to only play tv theme songs when I enter the TV Show and view the seasons. I prefer not to move from one tv show to another and have the tv theme song play, I prefer the tv show play when I am in the tv show viewing the seasons and episodes.

Just my opinion - but I think this problem can be easily solved. If you save .nfo files in your library settings, you can see in them that there is one or more lines for trailers. <trailer>plugin://plugin.video.youtube/play/?video_id=ZkEjle729tI</trailer> <trailer>plugin://plugin.video.youtube/play/?video_id=M7QhCm98eIQ</trailer> It works the same way as example the ID:s from TMDB/TVDB/IMDB: <imdbid>tt1210027</imdbid> <tvdbid>356661</tvdbid> <tmdbid>507244</tmdbid> When it comes to ID:s those can already be modified in the EMBY interface: I believe it would be pretty easy to make a similar options to put Youtube ID numbers for trailers into the interface? Maybe our clever developers can look into it? Myself, I sometimes edit the .nfo files when a trailer is "dead", has a strange language, is not relevant or has a very low quality. Only in very few cases I need to download a file and add it next to the movie file. (Downloading from Youtube with good quality can be very tricky, even if it is possible). Also, sorry I don’t want to be harsh, the word “probably” is a little disturbing. If not even you fully understands the licensing system how shall we users do? if I will tell my users to only use the web app for reading pdf files, no live tv etc., will that change anything? BR

This trailer is from One Media owned by Box office network in Los Angeles. https://www.theboxofficenetwork.com/ They have turned on ads for all their trailers. When I click on any of their trailers it goes straight to an ad. https://blog.youtube/news-and-events/earn-more-with-brand-partnerships/ If you do not wish to have such ads, you would need to manually change each Youtube URL to another distributor or small private youtube reviewer, who does not use ads. This can be done for the trailer button inside each .nfo file fo each media, if you have .nfo files turned on to be in the media directories. I believe that trying to eliminate One Media trailers from the search results that get added to the .nfo file is not a possible search parameter. This is limited by Youtube and can probably not be changed from outside code. In other words, I don't believe this can be fixed to eliminate a particular trailer source inside Youtube. This issue is a choice that Youtube made. Any member of youtube can adjust their trailer preferences at any time, so even if you manually change all URL links to no longer point to One Media, the new links can change to start with an ad, based on the video owner's choice at any time. If you really wish to avoid ad in trailers, you need to currate your own trailer collection and put a matching trailer file in each media subdirectory called trailers. I hope that makes sense.

The followup is: Since 7 years, users raise the question to have a force setting for transcoding+tonemapping HDR content, specially when Emby playback chain detection on the client does not even work that reliable as the team believes. There are more threads than this one regarding that topic. The sad thing is, such a setting is existing for Audio (convert non supported Surround-Audio to AC3). But nothing happens. User must go to OSD menu and trigger playback correction. You can't make this up. 7 years.

I followed the steps laid out by NYPD54 and nmalinoski on page 2 of this thread. The only thing I did was I substituted 4.9.1.90 for 4.9.1.80. Everything seems to be working smoothly.

"Playback correction" in the OSD cog menu should trigger transcoding (and tonemapping) without lowering in-app quality/bitrate.

On the client apps, you can use "Add Server" on the Change Server / Select Server screen and enter the domain in the host field and the port e.g. Emby for Roku App Emby for iOS App Also you can enter it in Server / Settings / Network / External domain and save

Understood - it's a carry over Year field from other pages where it makes sense to use it. Therefore, from an Emby perspective, you should probably delete it because nothing is auto-imported into the field and it adds no real value for likely anyone. From my perspective, I'll always try to repurpose any available field for more customization, so was thinking that changing this to a text string for Artists may be relatively easy to do? But, of course it could be much more complicated than that and too much effort for no great return. I'd love a fully automated Album Discography dates field (I don't think anyone else does this?) but guess it would be quite a low probability to implement soonish, even if the idea has any merit??? I've been experimenting with a workaround anyway, by using a Genre tag for the Artist and only displaying that one tag. I'm still playing around with the style format, but at least I can achieve an Album Discography year display, and can probably reposition it before the number of tracks, with CSS, if I want to? The downside is that it is static and needs updating when I add new albums outside of the current date range. Thanks for the honest reply and your work is appreciated!

And just show a black background between clips rather than the themes background (more relevant to other emby clients where a theme may be set that does not have a black background). Asked for this before but still get background flashes between each clip and on screen display flash up like on Apple TV client....

hmm you are correct, it is there in the source data, I was sure it was missing in the test data I was using. I will need to revisit my code to see why it thinks there is no banner tag available. my code is probably just broken, it is so old now I may need to re-write it to fully understand what it is doing, its been several years since I looked at this code and it is a little convoluted having to map the image types from Emby to Kodi.

Merci pour ta réponse @vincen Effectivement, j'ai les volumes montés dans Windows : Mais je ne les voyais pas dans la liste des disques locaux dans Emby Et comme souvent le problème était entre la chaise et le clavier. Je tapais le chemin racine \\192.168.1.108 et pas celui du dossier \\192.168.1.108\Videos Du coup ça fonctionne beaucoup mieux, y compris avec les dossiers de l'autre PC sous Win 10.

Pretty much every error has a stack dump associated with it so I was mostly looking for the Error Report lines, just had to filter out the noise of the Port Mapper plugin. Being familiar with what is typically logged also helped me to know what to look for, I knew it would print out when it was validating each library - that's new in 4.9 I think, before there was just one line that said it was starting a scan

So after fixing the Dexter folder, I rescanned in Emby. It took a while, but the problem show got imported!!! I had to manually add the Imdb number to get the metadata to show up though. And the test show I did last week (Fallout) is the same. the title shows up but without any metadata. Hopefully that will resolve on it's own. Thanks for sticking with me.

Mine is triggering Dolby Vision if the files are DV Profile 8.1. If they are Profile 7, they fall back to HDR 10 because the Apple TV does not support DV Profile 7. Infuse may also be falling back to HDR10 but just doing better/different tone mapping. Check the movie you are trying to play in the Emby webui and see which profile they are. There is a tool that can be used to convert Profile 7 to Profile 8 and they will play back correctly. https://github.com/cryptochrome/dovi_convert

I just created a request of this type and was directed to this thread. This is a fundamental issue; I don't understand why it's not already implemented. I think the best solution is to add a small icon like the one in the image so we can add any video we want, either via a link or a button to upload it to a custom folder on our server.

Is it only when tone mapping? Have you tried transcoding media that doesn't require tone mapping? There are some other threads for similar problems. You might want to monitor and post there too since they seem to have more attention from the devs.

“Resets” means the mini-player HUD reloads completely on each custom MP4 intro transition—showing filename, progress bar, and overlay briefly before hiding again. This breaks seamless cinematic flow, unlike native trailers with continuous black screen. No current setting hides it; combining intros into one file is a workaround.[emby +2]

Additionally, since it drives me nuts when people reply with a "found the problem," but don't share the solution: 1. In your CF dashboard, go to Zero Trust > Access < Policies 2. Select the policy name, likely the default Allow Emails policy, select the three dots menu > Configure 3. Under the Action dropdown, select "Bypass" and the selector under rules to "Everyone" 4. Click save in the bottom right corner. You can now log into your Emby server using non-browser clients or Emby Connect. Please note that you are exposing your Emby login page to the world, so follow best practices. Don't show usernames on the dashboard, hide admin accounts, etc.

A quick update. I finally came with the idea of "The purgatory". 1. Whenever I add a new content, I move the oldest of that same category to what I have called "The purgatory" (new libraries). Contents in the purgatory are automatically deleted after xx days. In my case, 10 days por films and TV series, or 5 days por TV recordings (usually sports). I use this command as a cron job: find /mnt/mydrive/purgatory/TVSeries/ -mindepth 1 -type d -mtime +9 -exec rm -rf {} \; Please mind that -mtime +9 actually searches folders 10 days old. 2. I created a Telegram group where I notifiy my familiy of every new content added, and what has been moved to the purgatory (the initial idea of "last chance" of this post). I have been using this method for several weeks now, and I am pretty satisfied with how it works. As an administrator, this proceding allows me to keep my drive within an optimal balance of contents available/free space in an easy way and, for my family members, to be aware of what is new and what is going to go away. You are correct. There are some filters. However, there is no filter ti distinguish between played/unplayed tracks. No way to save filtered views for quick access to favourite Genres. I think that this can be solved with the Smart Playlists (fitlers) feature.

Many Android phones have an internal equalizer that is usually used by apps like the now defunct Google Play Music, the new YouTube Music and many more, I just hope devs bring it to the Emby for Android app soon. You just have to "upvote" my post so the more upvotes it has the more importance it gets for devs to implement it.

SOLUTION : Il faut modifié le fichier system.xml ( emplacement : Emby-Server\config\ ). Pour cela , je vous déconseille d'utiliser le Notepad , mais plutôt un éditeur de fichier xml comme XML Copy Editor ( logiciel open source gratuit ). Lien pour le télécharment de XML copy editor : http://xml-copy-editor.sourceforge.net/ Dans system.xml , 1) Dans la section <SortReplaceCharacters> rajoutez cette ligne : <string>'</string> 2) Dans la section <SortRemoveWords> rajoutez ces lignes : <string>l</string> <string>le</string> <string>la</string> <string>les</string> <string>un</string> <string>une</string> <string>à</string> Après ces modifications , retirer vos répertoires de la médiathèque , puis ajoutez les de nouveau pour que les modifications prennent effets.
