I am writing this to express my growing frustration regarding the latest LG TV app update. For four days now, the app has been effectively broken for a significant portion of the user base, making it impossible to stream content. While I appreciate that the developers are "working on it" and asking for logs, this response is insufficient for a service-disrupting event of this scale. In software deployment, when an update completely breaks core functionality, the standard protocol is to immediately rollback to the previous stable version while the bugs are worked out in a dev environment. A few points the team needs to consider: Communication: Acknowledging the issue is a start, but we need a timeline. "Working on it" doesn't help users who have had a broken living room setup for nearly half a week. The Premiere Experience: I am currently a free user, but I have been evaluating Emby for a Premiere subscription. Frankly, seeing how this outage is being handled has completely deterred me from committing financially. Respect for Paying Customers: I feel particularly bad for the Lifetime and Monthly Premiere subscribers. These users have paid for a premium experience and are currently receiving zero service on their LG devices. Asking users to provide logs for four days while the app remains broken is putting the burden of QA on the customer. Please, revert the LG app to the previous version so we can actually use the platform while you troubleshoot the new build. We don't want a "fix soon"—we want the working app we had five days ago.3 points

Hi. Just curious why you think that's ideal? Why are trailers different from other related content like extras?2 points

Hello, In the past, I displayed the Emby server music files that I listened on my Discord Status through the Premid app presence here: https://premid.app/store/presences/Emby Unfortunately this solution has been broken for at least the last 6 months, so I moved on to the MusicBee player for this purpose. Recently a developer has created the Discord RPC solution "Music Presence", which aims at supporting a variety of Media Players: https://github.com/ungive/discord-music-presence/ When I reported that their solution did not detect the music played through Emby, they suggested to open a ticket here, explaining what could be happening, quoting: Would it be possible for Emby to communicate with Music Presence? In the long term I'm hoping this solution can be leveraged to display basic data not only of music files but also of TV shows and movies being streamed on my local servers (title, season/episode number if applicable and cover image). Cordially.1 point

Hi everyone I’m currently building Zerk Play, a standalone native desktop application for Emby servers, and I wanted to share the idea here to gauge interest and collect feedback. The goal is to offer a premium, binge-focused experience that goes beyond what the standard Emby web client can do—both in UI polish and in how discovery, playback, and requesting content work together. Core Idea Zerk Play is designed around three principles: Native Performance – Runs as a dedicated desktop app (Electron), not a browser tab. Unified Discovery – Search once: if it’s on your server, play it; if it’s not, request it instantly. Binge-First UX – Seamless “Next Up”, skip options, and immersive player controls. Key Features (Implemented & Planned) Unified Search & Requests (Emby + Jellyseerr) This is the main differentiator. Search queries your local Emby library and TMDB at the same time Clear status indicators: Available (already on your server) Requested Processing / downloading One-click requesting via Jellyseerr without leaving the app Smart Library Normalization (No Duplicates, No Chaos) Zerk Play is aware that many users organize their media across multiple folders—by quality, codec, source, genre, or personal preference. Automatically detects and groups identical movies/shows across different folders (e.g. 4K / 1080p / REMUX / Anime / Genre-based directories) Presents one clean entry per title, instead of cluttered duplicates Seamlessly exposes: Available qualities Different versions (HDR/SDR, codec, bitrate) No need to reorganize your filesystem—Zerk Play handles the mess for you The goal is simple: your library looks clean and unified, regardless of how complex it is on disk. Advanced Custom Player Built for power users and long watch sessions: HLS streaming via hls.js with adaptive bitrate Manual quality selection (Direct Play, 1080p, 720p, etc.) Fast audio & subtitle switching “Next Up” overlay with countdown, episode info, and instant play—ideal for binge-watching Modern “Zerk” UI A UI designed to feel closer to Netflix than a traditional media server client. Dark + red custom theme Dashboard sections: Continue Watching Top Rated Recently Added Visual Genre Explorer with randomized backdrops pulled from your own library Smooth transitions and animations powered by Framer Motion Security & Privacy Tokens and credentials stored securely using system keychain integration Direct connection to your Emby server (no third-party relays) Technical Stack (for those interested) Desktop: Electron Mobile & TV: Capacitor Frontend: React + TypeScript + Vite Styling: Tailwind CSS Routing/State: React Router + Context API Playback: Desktop: Custom HLS player Mobile/TV: Native ExoPlayer (Android) / AVPlayer (Apple) Multi-Platform Plan: Zerk Play is designed with Android, Android TV, iOS, iPadOS, and tvOS in mind from the start. Native Playback Bridges This is not just a web wrapper. Android / Android TV Direct bridge to ExoPlayer Direct play of high-bitrate MKV HEVC/H.265, HDR10 / Dolby Vision DTS / TrueHD passthrough Apple (iOS / tvOS) Native AVKit / AVPlayer System-level Picture-in-Picture AirPlay 2 support Better battery efficiency than web playback Adaptive Input System The UI adapts automatically to the device: TV Mode: Full D-Pad / remote navigation with proper focus handling (no mouse emulation) Touch Mode: Gesture-based controls (seek, volume, brightness) Desktop Mode: Mouse + keyboard shortcuts for power users Current Status Active development Desktop app is nearing feature completeness Android TV native bridge is currently in progress Not publicly available yet Looking for Feedback I’d really appreciate input from the community: Would you use a client like this? How do you currently handle duplicate movies / multi-quality libraries? What do you feel is missing or poorly implemented in existing Emby clients? Thanks for reading and looking forward to hearing your thoughts!1 point

So after fixing the Dexter folder, I rescanned in Emby. It took a while, but the problem show got imported!!! I had to manually add the Imdb number to get the metadata to show up though. And the test show I did last week (Fallout) is the same. the title shows up but without any metadata. Hopefully that will resolve on it's own. Thanks for sticking with me.1 point

Thank You. I have re-opened the gracenote raised issue and asked for 38.8 and 38.9 to be corrected and to check out what 38.10 should be as we have a mismatch between https://hc2broadcasting.com/stations/w34ey-d/ and https://www.rabbitears.info/market.php?request=print_market&mktid=104 If you do find out what is actually broadcasting for 38.10 and if it is "Timeless TV", please let me know Thanks1 point

For me, the older version works just fine. I don’t really notice any difference. At least, it’s smoother when fast-forwarding than transcode file.1 point

I wish I could say it was me, but the Dispatcharr community created this tool. It is called Teamarr and is very useful for IPTV feeds. I will make sure to not have any numbers sub-title fields. But for each type of event you can use a template to set what the EPG is pushing out. So you are selecting Channel Name, Title and Subtitle, and Event Description. It also has filler EPG for before the game start time and after.1 point

I also reported this a few weeks ago. I thought that regressions in behaviour were taken seriously, but it seems not really. Paul1 point

Just for the record and educational purposes ... I started here: https://publicfiles.fcc.gov/tv-profile/w34ey-d, to get the broadcaster website http://hc2broadcasting.com/. Not real helpful. The site shows the affiliations: https://hc2broadcasting.com/stations/W34EY-D/ (compare to https://www.rabbitears.info/market.php?request=print_market&mktid=104) 38.8 is actually NBC True CRMZ, https://streamwink.com/info/nbctruecrmz (this one is a few days behind https://epg.pw/last/472384.html?lang=en) Here is Cozi TV https://www.cozitv.com/tv-listings/ No good info for Timeless TV (if that is even correct); the site has only sample info https://www.timelesstv.com/Whats-Airing.html I found the channels on some guides, but did not have correct info. What a mess - why does this have to be so complicated. Thanks for dogging this, sa2000.1 point

The problem with that is most Android boxes have their own flaws. I tried two differnet ones from reputable brands. On one Dolby Vision didn't work (although it should have), on the other something else was broken with emby. The only one that works perfectly aparently is the nvidia shield pro, but that costs 200€ and why pay that much when I have a smart TV that can do everything already? If the LG store is so strict and takes long to approve an app, why did they approve a broken app? I can't imagine there is no rollback feature...1 point

I changed from Emby to Jellyfin. Now working even better1 point

I don't update the app until I've waited a few days for any issues to show up on these forums. While this case is a perfect example of why, the reason I do that is because this isn't the first time an "update" has gone poorly or removed functionality. Now I just have to make sure no one in the house updates it because you can't stop the TV prompting to update apps... In their defence, how LG operates makes problems like this a lot worse. Getting updates approved for release can take weeks or months and I don't think there is a rollback option for developers and definitely not users. It's also the holiday period so they are probably running a skeleton crew. Buckle up because I really doubt this will be fixed before February. Once my LG dies I won't be getting another one. Partly because they dropped DTS support and also issues like this. edit: if I had updated and it stopped working, I would seriously look at getting an android box to run emby. I wouldn't be able to handle a month with it not working.1 point

Hi Luke, Thanks in advance and happy new year. The box is not expected to arrive until mid-January Unfortunately, boxes with h266/VVC support are hard to come by, and as far as I know, the only Armlogiy CPU with h266/VVC support is the S905X5 SOC (without M). See you soon, Best regards, Jerry1 point

PM sent Yes, I only have 1 user setup within emby so both login under the same credentials and app settings. Both TV's are on my LAN, the only difference is the non-working tv is connected via wifi, not wired. Connectivity is excellent so I don't think weak signal is to blame here but can give network stats/testing as needed.1 point

Well, how about that. The new Windows application seems to be working quite well! So far, it quickly sets up a queue of what also seems to be a good randomization! Thank you for the improvement. Now if this could be rolled over to other platforms (android, browsers), we'd be in business. Good on ya :)1 point

Hi, apologies for the disruption. We are working to get this resolved as quickly as we can.1 point

I don't really think more options are necessary. Just apply some less opacity when in TV mode.1 point

Funny thing, now localhost will also open emby for me. Anyhow, looks like I good to go?1 point

So for this example it was an IPTV feed that I am creating a XMLTV file for. I get to pick what shows up in the title/subtitle, program description. I'll export the EPG and see if any games are playing with ranked teams. I don't see any on this xmltv file personally teamarr.xml1 point

OK thanks. I guess we will have to add more options.1 point

Just following up on this post to confirm that, after updating my Emby Server to the latest version (4.9.1.90), shuffling music by genre appears to be working again. I can once again shuffle my music tracks by genre without locking up the server. Thanks much!1 point

Anyone with this issue can try out the new beta release to see if it fixes it.1 point

Yo estoy igual que tú, desde el 26/12 me sale el mismo error y no me deja reproducir nada, aún que entra en el servidor y localiza los vídeos, no deja reproducirlos1 point

Hi. Emby Connect uses this forum account so you would just change it here. Does that answer your question?1 point
