  2. Just for laughs, I have an Intel NUC running Windows 7, It has the Windows Media Center running because the themes for it from Throgmorton were bar none Oscar wining but they only run on WMC. Therefore that NUC runs Emby Server version 4.0.10 and that is it. Does what I want and the wife is happy. It is not uncommon and recommendable to stop upgrading a server when you have reached a version that does what you want it to do and now instead of spending time futzing around with settings and directory structures, you spend the time watching content. @Lukeplease let me know where was the WMC sub forum moved to as I visit it every time I come to the site in case I can help with problems.

  6. Hey there guys, I've proposed this in some thread already, but I think it would be very handy to sort media of artists into different groups, as musicbrainz does for example. For instance, implement the option to enable sorting artist's music into, e.g., "Albums", "Singles", "Live albums", "Compilations", etc. I have no idea if this is quickly done or rather takes a lot of work, but it would be very cool to have imho. Currently, media of bands like AC/DC or Michael Jackson, so artists making music since some decades, have 50+ albums/singles/etc. cluttering the artist view, making it very hard to find a specific item of that artist. If we would have the option to have this sorted out into different groups, it'd make the artist view more cleaned up. Cheers boys and girls! Have a great day (or night) ahead!

  7. Be able to create playlist based on a certain criteria, like genre and or year, in order to create a dynamic playlist that it refreshes automatically when new content is added. This way you can for example, create a tv comedy playlist from the 90's, or a new sci-fi Movies playlist. Some other criteria for rules could be the rating, watched/unwantched, score, tags, language, audio codec, etc The possibilities could be endless

  8. I recently found a need to look up additional information on a director. I was hoping to look at the director's profile and see not only the movies I had in my collection but also a list of other movies that they have directed. This would be displayed below the library's current movies. ex: My movies: Movie 1, Movie 2 Other movies by this person: Movie 3, Movie4 ================ This could help one expand their library and to discover a missing gem.

  10. Hi there, I'm sure if that should be categorized as a "bug" or "feature request", or maybe somewhere in between. As can be seen, under "Subtitle" the entire filename can be seen: But it is not under "Media Info" (as expected): I'd expect the subtitle filename to be also hidden just like the main media file's name is.

  11. I have to agree, no amount of Emby Server logs is going to point out the problem with their Musicbrainz mirror constantly going down, the logs just show connection timeouts. I setup a reverse proxy to work around it and I'll likely be setting up my own mirror in the future (which might also be faster to use with Picard too).

  13. This is exactly my issue as well. I queued up several shows last night to download, and noticed the "Downloading x of x" kept restarting, with different numbers (sometimes it would be 1..2..3...etc of 25, then it would restart and go through 1...2...3... etc of 24, and so on). I thought it was a weird way to display it, but noticed the maximum was decreasing, and thought that once the maximum hits 0, it should work. Well, it eventually disappeared, and I check my downloads area, and there are no shows. Not sure what happened. I also deleted all of the downloads, deleted the app and reinstalled, restarted the server and my phone, to no avail. Now, I'm running a test to see if removing admin privileges from my user profile (as suggested here as a fix https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/103327-ready-to-transfer-but-never-starts-downloading/page/4/#findComment-1418403) will fix it. edit - also, sequence looks great, @curb_enhusiasm

  17. New version up (5.41.0) Added: Setting for lazy loading of posters, this makes it so posters are not drawn unless they are viewed making it require less CPU when scanning libraries. Caching for commonly used icons. Very minor performance uplift. Import and export profile options. Added image fallback, if the plugin for some reason can't draw a poster it will revert to normal Emby posters and in some rare instances prevent a crash of Emby. Changed: Moved some settings to the advance tap. Fixed: Cache improvements. Fixed small bug with SkiaSharp disposal. If you encounter any problems or have any ideas for the plugin then please report them to me and i will look into it asap, Download here on the page or on https://github.com/yocksers If you like the plugin and would like to show your appreciation you can donate a coffee at: Buy me a coffee this is by no means required!!! 18. @ebr@Piperel I have completed my tests between Emby Server 4.8.11.0 and 4.9.2.7 on Android The issue is that we are now crashing when there is no network. So localhost is not working because Emby Server is no longer running as it only lasts for a few seconds after launch when offline. This has now been referred to the development team

  22. I've been doing some more updating (not testing) and because of this topic, have been taking more notice of what is happening...(what works and what doesn't work)... Have just updated/renamed an AlbumArtist in Mp3tag: Scanned the existing/unchanged AlbumArtist parent folder in Emby, as per normal process, that always used to work. The new updated AlbumArtist is in the AlbumArtist tab and the old entity has disappeared, as it should. When viewing the new AlbumArtist detail page all of the Songs are listed, BUT not the Albums. However, the individual Songs all show the correct new AlbumArtist, as they should. The Albums can still be seen in the Albums menu tab with the old/original AlbumArtist, even though that AlbumArist should no longer exist Then scanned the relevant Albums from the Albums tab. The Albums have now updated correctly and show under the AlbumArtist detail page, as they should. Just wondering if the recent changes to allow refreshing metadata of Songs from an Album have anything to do with this and the issues that @nospotifyis having. I thought it was something I was doing wrong, but perhaps not??? So far I have managed to update everything that I want to, but this seems to need a new process now, with possibly more steps. (I haven't tried all possible methods). Is there a new simple method that should be used now? Or is something broken with the recent update?

  23. Currently Maintenance Mode blocks the admin from editing libraries and user home screen settings, which defeats a major purpose of having maintenance mode at all. Allow server admin unrestricted access while Maintenance Mode is on. library add/remove/edit folder/metadata changes with ability to browsing the libraries user home screen configuration Maintenance Mode should block users, not the admin trying to perform maintenance...

  24. Thanks for your quick response, it's not a big deal, but it's there to indicate a specific type, so it does not have to look clean. But thats my opinion. I'll wait and see! Kindest regards.

  25. Thanks. There do seem to be a few paths that do work for individual, manual updating of an album, but as you found, the core problem remains: a full music library scan does not update modified music library files. That's a problem Emby devs need to fix.

  27. I am adding content every week but I do it perhaps an Old School way. First, on a separate drive outside Emby, I create a folder for the movie, then create an empty MKV file the directory has name and year in it. Then I use Media Center Master and drag the directory into it. I will get a pop up dialogue to confirm that this is the movie I want. In the movie folder I now have all the images, including logo.png file and a movie.xml file with the movie meta data. then I drag it into the corresponding library without the empty MKV file. Copy the real MKV file and then run a scan library process. Job done. Emby will bypass any additional meta data search and it displays as a folder on the movie library home page. If I want to make a collection in the movie library , like the Titanic collection, I create a collection folder in it are the Backdrop.jpg, folder.jpg and logo.png images. In addition I put a folder.xml file there. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="yes"?> <Title> <LocalTitle>Titanic Collection</LocalTitle> <OriginalTitle>Titanic Collection</OriginalTitle> <SortTitle>Titanic Collection</SortTitle> <ForcedTitle></ForcedTitle> <Rating>8.6</Rating> <IMDBrating>8.6</IMDBrating> <Description>● Titanic (1997) - 101-year-old Rose DeWitt Bukater tells the story of her life aboard the Titanic to her granddaughter, 84 years later. A young Rose boards the departing ship with the upper-class passengers and her mother and her fiancé.&#10; ● Titanic: 20 years later (2017) - The movie’s writer-director explores what he got right and wrong in National Geographic’s Titanic: 20 Years Later with James Cameron. </Description> </Title> Then in this folder structure I create the Titanic movie (1997) and the 20 years later movie folder with the Media Center Master created meta data. Run the library scan and I have now 1 folder Titanic collection click on it and have 2 movie folders. I like that kind of navigation because it is Windows Explorer like which I am used to. I found out that if you provide all the meta data Emby will just display it in the libraries home page and all you have to do is make sure you select the folder tab as default. Finally I lock the folders so that Emby does not "upgrade" them. Done this since Media Browser 2.*

  31. And I think it's getting worse. I'm still on version 4.8 (I have disabled the update to 4.9), But despite being on version 4.8, with the new Amazon Fire TV app update that fixed the trailer issue, I no longer see my nested folders, which made it difficult to find what I want.

  32. Even before that post Feb 3 2019, ALL my libraries that have movies, documentaries, single videos, sports videos and New Years Fireworks videos are ALL mixed content ever since Emby 4.* and it works in the folder view the way I like it. In addition I create my own collections with the top folder having images and meta data for the collection and the sub folders being the individual movies with their meta data. In addition I use Media Center Master to collect all my meta data plus in some instances I create my own xml files because the content doesn't exist anywhere else. This is what I like about Emby you can fool it in doing things the way you want the content to display. Everyone of my movie.xml files has the tag <SortTitle> which allows me to sort my content where I want it to appear. The more you can customize the content display yourself, more work, but more to your liking. The Devs here love their creation but there surely must be a limit to their engagement.

  33. I am totally confused with this issue and only came here because a post of mine from 2019 providing a solution was linked and I have no problem at the present. Here is my setup. I am running version 4.9.1.90 on a QNAP NAS. I have all kinds of different libraries and ALL of them are mixed content with the following exceptions having the default content type. TV Show = TV Shows, Music = Music, Music Videos = Music Videos, Collections = Collections, Home Videos & Photos = Home Videos & Photos All my Movies, Documentaries, Sports and Conventions are mixed content and I select the Folder View Tab on the browser and the Emby Theater pages and it behaves the way it did under version 3. So, PLEASE no feature updates that break this as I don't want to spend the remaining years of my life working on the WAF.

  34. Thank you for highlighting the issue. I have reproduced the problem which happens when chapters are not generated. I will refer it to the development team. 37. Lumo Suite Professional ≠ tinyMediaManager – das sind zwei völlig unterschiedliche Strategien im gleichen Spielfeld. 1. Grundausrichtung tinyMediaManager (tMM) Klassischer, GUI-basierter Bibliotheks-Manager Ziel: „Schöne Library“ für Kodi, Emby, Jellyfin, Plex, MediaPortal etc. (tinyMediaManager) Holt Metadaten primär aus Online-Datenbanken (TMDB, TVDB, IMDb …). (tinyMediaManager) Cross-Platform (Java, läuft auf Windows, macOS, Linux). (tinyMediaManager) Lumo Suite Professional Power-Tool / Profi-Backend für lokale Medien – eher „Engine“ als „bunte Oberfläche“. Fokus: korrekte technische Daten aus der Datei selbst (MediaInfo, DV-Tools), saubere NFOs, Cover, Workflows. Klare Trennung: Lumo Professional = kein Watcher, kein Live-Monitoring Watch-Logik liegt in LumoWatcher (separates Modul). 2. 5. Automatisierung & Laufzeitverhalten tinyMediaManager (tinyMediaManager) Kann „Datenquellen beim Start aktualisieren“, Auto-Rename etc.

  38. CURRENT STATUS: SSO: Not yet planned LDAP: Development COMPLETED - BETA AVAILABLE >180 direct endorsements >30 MONTHS (>2.5 years) >12,000 views PLEASE BUMP - - - - - PLEASE LIKE - - - - - PLEASE BUMP - - - - - PLEASE LIKE - - - - - PLEASE BUMP This would greatly expand Emby's usage, and possibly more enterprise level adoption, user templating, user groups, SSO, etc. There are also users who have completely abandoned Emby and ended subscriptions due to the lack of this necessary basic functionality. Note: SAML2 is also part of this request. (header auth is also acceptable, at a minimum.) Context: I am trying to use something like openfire as a Instant Messaging solution which already supports LDAP and SAML2. So this would allow the current user of emby to seamlessly use web-based instant messenger with the same username and password as Emby without the need to enter them into a form. This would also allow universal login to be shared with my home PC's, Spiceworks, Ombii, Organizr, etc. The multitude of possible flexible functionality this could add is truly incredible. THIS NEEDS TO BE DONE, myself and others cannot manage a userbase with proprietary passwords for a single service (with no self-service password reset/recovery), when things that have only months of development implement it within days, easily. Status: LDAP - Development Completed - BETA AVAILABLE! Common LDAP solutions to test against:Open LDAP (Open Source) [use this] ApacheDS OpenDJ 389 Directory Server Microsoft Active Directory SSL is NOT actually needed, but Emby team insisted on it anyways: Simply offering a toggle option for auth to send plaintext or encrypted passwords would work just fine. It is ironic to claim the need to be overly security conscious of user passwords, while lagging behind on basic SSL. If SAML is implemented, a SAML request/response can just be signed by an x509 and it is just as secure as TLS using SSL. SSL does not need to be natively supported, as it is perfectly possible to run it through an SSL reverse proxy tunnel and have the same effect. SSL Feature Request: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/33983-ssl-integrationsupport/&do=findComment&comment=322526As of now username and password is encrypted client-side as security as SSL is not natively implemented. Emby team has said this impedes the adoption of both SSO and LDAP. Please see our SSL request topic; like, comment, and endorse it to show how many people would enjoy/gain from this basic security. Ways to satisfy this FR: Direct LDAP connector SAML2 connector General SSO functionality (SSO Header, etc) Allowing user header auth NGINX auth support RADIUS Authentication Other features that are inherently possible if this is implemented: Self service passwords Ability for users to invite users/guests Expiring Accounts (after duration/trigger) Unified credentials for many services Corporate level authentication security User groups Mass User management Update 1: I encourage others to work on this but I am currently seeing what I can do to develop a solution to this myself. If you have experience in this LDAP/SSO/SAML2/SSL/.NET contact myself, @@Luke, @@ebr or the Emby team to let them know, any help is greatly appreciated! By everyone! Update 2: I know there is always the question of "well how many users actually want/will use this", so I compiled a list of some of the other threads/sites where people request this (to apparently no effectiveness in motivating the team). Update 3 (18 MONTH UPDATE): This request has now hit 18 months in age, NO progress made thus far whatsoever. ( ) Update 4: This FR is now the 4th most liked post ON THE ENTIRE FORUM and the 3rd most liked FR ON THE ENTIRE FORUM (ever), the 1st most liked active FR ON THE ENTIRE FORUM and over 4000 views. Counting endorsements besides those on this thread show over 115 direct requests/endorsements for this basic functionality. Lets get this moving guys, this is getting to be a bit much. Almost 2 years waiting on this now. Source Update 5 (9/20/2017): This feature request is now the MOST DESIRED REQUEST EVER MADE TO EMBY, sadly, that has not merited any progress at all. The staff has been working on things they believe Emby users want or may want, but it is clear what people want. We can only hope now our wishes are respected instead of being told what we want and having our requests dismissed. Source Update 6 [2 year update] (10/17/2017): Two years and not a single bit of progress has been made. TWO YEARS!!! To say this is disappointing is an understatement. The entire reason I went from Plex to Emby was because of local user management. THIS IS THE ONLY REASON, so naturally I wanted to have complete control over my users, but after TWO YEARS, still nothing. Update 7 (3/6/2018): DEVELOPMENT HAS STARTED!!! Check Luke's recent comments, if you want to test it out, download the latest beta and install/configure the LDAP plugin to test and give feedback!!! Update 8 (4/6/2018): Development on the LDAP connector has completed from what I gather, not sure if this is only a beta or a primary release; SSO is still a plan for the future but has not been touched. Progress made by other users (looks to be nearly, if not fully complete): https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/pull/1885 https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/pull/2139 Exploits shown by other users against Emby (emphasizing the need for a centralized authentication solution): https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/12335-unauthenticated-access-over-the-internet-to-logs-folder/ https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/20376-all-folders-visible-to-all-users-after-upgrade/ Related FR that could be helpful: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/46635-support-for-logging-users-in-though-url-scheme/?hl=user Any of these could be interesting to have compatibility with: http://lemonldap-ng.org/welcome/ https://github.com/Jasig/cas http://passportjs.org/ https://www.nginx.com/resources/admin-guide/restricting-access-auth-request/ LDAP/SSO/SAML Requests (~180 endorsements) [>12,000 views] > 95 endorsements on this post ~ 30 endorsementshttps://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/issues/1146 > 35 endorsementshttps://www.bountysource.com/issues/24943821-authenticate-users-using-ldap > 14 endorsementshttps://feathub.com/tidusjar/Ombi/+122 > 4 endorsementshttps://www.reddit.com/r/emby/comments/5o44wd/creating_deleting_updating_users_with_the_api/ Interview, in article comments user said lack of LDAP STOPPED him from using Emby (Emby is actually losing customers due to the lack of this NECESSARY basic functionality):https://www.linux.com/news/software/multimedia/856128-exclusive-interview-emby-founder-luke-pulverenti Duplicate, user had no progress on first 2 posts (no one from Emby actually tracked this or even replied to him):http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/861-mb3-and-active-directory/ http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/867-mb3-and-active-directory/ Auth announcement, user 'Drashna' in comments requested LDAP/ADhttp://emby.media/community/index.php?/blog/1/entry-177-manage-your-home-with-emby-users/ Various similar requestshttps://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/issues/2494 https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/issues/2493 https://forum.yunohost.org/t/integration-emby/912 http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/13081-active-directory-integration/ http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/11200-media-browser-3-server-ldap-active-directory/ External SQL auth request:http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/27986-emby-and-shared-mysql-database/ http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/23509-authenticate-users-via-external-mysql-database/ http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/12001-external-login-to-mysql/ #ADFS #SSO #LDAP #ActiveDirectory #MSAD #SAML #SAML2.0 #SAML1.1 #PingFederate #OKTA #LemonLDAP #JASIG #authentication #auth #TLS #SSL #Usergroup #usertemplate #header #authheader #headerauth #security #hardening #authhardening #authenticationheader #externalauth #centralauth #centralizedauth #centralizeddb #exploit #authexploit #security #loginhardening #authenticationhardening #accesscontrol #.NET #SelfService #RADIUS

  39. Is there plans on the roadmap for OpenID. I have searched but not found any indication this is in development. With many admins taking up SSO through Authelia or Authentik to enhance security it would be great for Emby to support it. One of the easier open standards is OpenID which the aforementioned support. Users could continue to use LDAP if they wish while others can use the arguably better SSO experience.

  42. Hi Guys, I recently moved from Kodi with MySQL for lack of proper multi user management and server side support, I have to say I'm impressed with Emby. Together with the Kodi Plugin it really takes the solution to a whole new level, count me in among the supporters! One feature I would like to see is the ability to recommend movies or shows to other users: I share my Library with close friends and family but it is a big library so they are always calling me to recommend them a movie to watch. It would be really cool if after watching a movie I can click a Recommend button and choose the users I think would like the movie, then it is displayed on their suggested movies at the top with the name of the user who recommended it... Sorry if there is something like this is already there, I am new to the interface and don't fully know it but could not find such feature... Thanks!

  43. To gauge interest... What if you had the ability to "Forget" a series for the purposes of Next Up display. That is, it would no longer show in Next Up - unless you watched another episode. Sometimes you maybe watch a series for a while and, even though there is more of it or more is made later, maybe it isn't as good as the earlier seasons or maybe you just don't have time for it anymore. So you'd like it to quit showing up in your Next Up list so it is less cluttered and you can focus on the series you are actually watching now. If you start watching it again, the "forget" would be forgotten and it would start to show up in Next Up again.
