The point is that removing GUID without a replacement, and having links be guessable for years.... is something that should never have happened in the first place. It's such a basic concept for web apps security that it boggles the mind. And it hurts your credibility when it comes to making secure software.3 points

Hi All, I know it was requested here before so I created a new subtitle provider plugin for Wizdom.xyz (Hebrew subtitle provider). It is now available through the Emby Plugins Catalog. Source Code: https://github.com/Flawkee/Emby.Wizdom.Plugin2 points

@LukeAuthentication is performed by the token from Proton when the SMTP relay is created. That's the only authentication is when the token is created, so for username and password, the password would be the token. The SMTP username is the email it's coming from. I believe the issue is with the port Proton uses, secure port 587 and smarttls. How to set up SMTP to use business applications or devices with Proton Mail | Proton2 points

Hi ebr, Thank you for pointing this out, it was actually the other way around, my ethernet cable came out when moving my network switch and it was falling back to wifi where it was getting a significantly slower connection (although this slower connection wasn't perceivable on Netflix or youtube surprisingly).2 points

Hi guys! I haven't updated my Emby to v4.9.1.80 yet, but I did fire up a test docker the other day and tried to fix most of the stuff I saw. Its very much a work in progress and I am not happy with it yet but I guess its better than nothing. Please note that the video OSD has been changed a bit to look more like vanilla Emby as I am having problems with the tabs but will try to solve it when I get some more time to work on it. Just to clarify... the moment I took the screenshot and downloaded the log I immediately posted this yesterday 'Posted yesterday at 03:43 PM'1 point

Yeah this affects mixed folders mostly for me. But also as mentioned, the folder view on TV shows still displays year and ratings, etc. It only doesn’t work on movies.1 point

Forget what I asked off-topic. I solved it. It was an issue with DNS entries... IT is always DNS -.-1 point

The link below is an example I posted earlier in the thread which never got any responses. I expect that the Movies tab is passably fine if your library only contains movies and absolutely no other content. Although I don't really know why anyone would want to traverse an alphabetized list of movies, but I assume it works for those of you that like it. My preference is instead to use the Genre View or Folder View where I have everything arranged in my own custom categories. Most everything on my Emby server lives in a single mixed content library. The top-level view when accessing the server shows my main Library, along with Live TV, Recorded TV, Collections, and Playlists. This is all I need and all that I want. It's easy to manage and requires minimal decision-making at the top level entry screen for where I want to go. When I go into the main Library>Folder View, I can continue to drill down in my very obvious custom categories and find anything that I want very quickly. I think to abide by your approach to library setup, I would need to split my content into multiple libraries, to separate out movies, tv shows, documentaries, concerts, etc. It would be really unwieldy. In vintage 4.8 Emby, I just jump into my main library Folder View, and I'm off navigating through my custom categories to find what I want, spanning both movies and TV, as well as lots of other random videos that are neither movies nor TV. The Movies tab in my library is utterly useless, as described in the post above. I honestly don't know why everyone doesn't use a mixed content library, and why the developers continue to maintain library types. Why separate movies and tv? No streaming service operates that way. It strikes me as a crutch to deal with Emby's limitations with auto-identifying things. But the admins would be better served by consolidating all library types into a single generic "library" and give people the ability to tag things as a movie or tv show (or other?) in the event Emby misidentifies it*. *- When I first started using 4.7 a couple of years ago, misidentification of tv shows as movies was the primary issue I had to deal with in setting up my library, because my folder structure didn't have "Season" folders. It's the main compromise I needed to make to deal with Emby's preferred folder organization. I don't think it should be necessary to put a "Season 1" directory into my folder structure for a one-season tv show. But it was the only way to get Emby to properly categorize that folder as TV. It would've been nicer to leave my folders alone and instead have a right-click option to set some metadata and just get Emby to query the correct online database. But ultimately I decided that adding a few "Season 1" folders was not that big of a deal. However, what 4.9 did to blow up Folder View is a big deal--and the fact that myself and so many other people have come out of the woodwork to make first-time posts about this issue should tell you something.1 point

Interesting, maybe it's because I'm still on the 4.8 server but I do see the same as you on my 4.9 beta server. I'm surprised that it's different based on the server version but I guess it's possible, the plugin is 1.0.66 which is the latest I see for both. Sorry for the confusion.1 point

Thanks for looking in to this so quickly @sa2000. When the Refresh Guide Scheduled Task ran this morning, listings for all channels with missing data were updated for the full fourteen days.1 point

I think regardless of transcoding emby does some probing of the stream before playing it to determine whether transcoding is necessary. This results in some delay in playback1 point

Is there a way to get the missing and upcoming episodes to show up on the show/season screen like it used to be? I understand you can go to the three dot menu to see them but I was wondering if there is an option to get them on the show screen.1 point

@DarWun This appears to have been a transient issue with the data provided by Gracenote and now it appears ok. Channel 9.1 has schedule data fir 29 October to 12 November Similarly 8.1 and 10.2 Note that Emby Server caches data for 24 hours so any fix by Gracenote in last 24 hours may not get picked up until the caching period expires try to clear the cache data by deleting the files within this directory and then doing a guide refresh /var/packages/EmbyServer/var/cache/httpclient Alternatively the updated schedules should get picked up on the periodic guide refresh after cache expiry Extract from the current guide schedule for 9.1 CFTODT (CTV) for 29th october and for the 12th November1 point

I'd say leave the Certified Fresh rating. It's just a matter of time for the requisite number of reviews to come in, and by that time it's generally pretty clear if it will drop to just Fresh. Drawback I see is that users might have to wait or do a manual refresh to find out that score has changed.1 point

Thanks, I can remux the sup anyway, it only takes mins at most, the most critical issue is still this, which I dont know how to fix in any Android/Android TV app1 point

@yocker Not urgent, but you might want to nudge the percentage for splat/tomato to 60%. That's the actual variance point (official percentages here: https://www.rottentomatoes.com/about )1 point

Okay, let's summarize on these things 1. CVE-2025-46387 This is just a ghost issue. Someone has acquired a number, made a few selections for the required minimal information - and nothing else. There is no content at all - effectively invalid. https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2025-46387 2. Link 2 - Emby Security Vulnerability This video looks like a show to me. Unless details are provided, I cannot take this serious. 3. Link 1 - "High-Risk" Vulnerability Here it's getting even ridiculous: The details have not been disclosed because we haven't fixed it? This can only work the other way round, because without providing any details there's notthing for us to fix. Then, the author claims to know that it hasn't been fixed by us (we would have been slow). But since that CVE is totally blank and empty, there is absolutely no way for this person to know whether it has been fixed or not. Finally @zdzzdz - you are the same person as @rainbowsea02 Probably also the same as "Cane" from the Website and whoever else. You think you are clever? You are not. Your play was easy to figure out. Last warning: Stop this nonsense!1 point

The bug where folders containing a single movie still display the folder name completely defeats the purpose of scraping and even ruins Emby itself. If that's the case, why bother with the hassle of launching Emby to watch movies when I could just use a local SMB share? I can no longer enjoy the clean interface after scraping is complete, so why go through all this trouble?1 point

All now working thank you Luke. I can now add to and create new collections.1 point

I think this thread is enough evidence that no one actually want this, not a single reaction agreed with OP, and all agreed on the other posts saying not to do it and/or there are other products for this. Development efforts are far better spent on actual core features and bug fixes.1 point

It only affects playback, so you can test on an existing recording.1 point

For me smart TVs are stupid. Unfortunately it often costs more to get a dumb TV than it does for a smart one. About a year ago I had to replace my main TV and I found that the TVs without "smarts" were about 100 to 200 dollars more expensive than equivalent smart TVs. I finally went with a TCL TV with Google built in but I use none of the smart features and all my playback is through my Shield TV or my Roku Ultra or my Fire stick. In fact my fancy TCL tv is really little more than a dumb display with the :smarts: supplied by the various devices I use. I did research before the purchase and found the the TCL TV was the most able to ignore its smarts among the TVs I researched. I do not ever use Google TV or the built in streaming TV apps that come pre-installed on the TCL and I even remove all that I could. As I said smart TVs are dumb but most have the ability to ignore their "smarts" and simply act as a regular TV. I am very happy with my TV and the only complaint I have is that if you do not do at least part of the TVs smart setup the TV insists on nagging you. But it is easy enough to disable the majority of the TV's smarts. I use a universal remote and the only TV functions I have programmed into it are the basics of volume, power and input selection. If I need to access the fancier functions on the TV then I use the actual TV remote. I have only needed to do that less than once a month. In simple terms I have a smart TV but it is so slow and stupid that I do not use its smarts at all buut I am very happy with it. BTW: There is an Emby app for the TV itself but that app is so sluggish and clumsy that I have never used it except for initial setup to verify that it worked. My Shield and my Roku are so much better that the only time I even see the TV's actual menus only about once a month or less usually when my power goes out or when something happens that triggers the TV's nag screens.1 point

Thanks for the reply! I fully understand those limitations... didnt really expect for corrupted files to be handled anyway ^^". May I ask one more off topic thing? I noticed when the emby android app starts for the first time after being not opened for a while, the first playback takes around 30 seconds to even start. After every playback starts instantaneous. I only noticed this behavior over public mobile data. In my home wifi network, or even with mobile data via VPN to my home network, this did not occurr... I somehow suspect my reverse proxy, as it also behaves weirdly with Plex. If you have the time and this question is still allowed in this topic, I opened a git issue at pangolin. There is a snippet of the emby client and server logs with the 30 second delay. Not sure why there is the delay, or what causes it.... Git issue: https://github.com/fosrl/pangolin/issues/1756 If you want me to open a new thread thats fine Or move it, if possible ^^ Thanks again1 point

We want them to work too. We are seeing something similar reported with the Samsung app. We are embedding the official youtube sdk and it must be keeping some data that eventually causes this problem. That's why clearing app data resolves it. Hopefully this will not be a long term problem.1 point

Whoops, another typo fix - very minor. v. 1.06c2 with corrections Webkit browsers were missing some animation code. Please, please re-introduce missing episodes. It is horrible trying to see which tv shows have released episodes. It is so long winded to have to use multiple clicks to ask for them on each series and impossibly long on the TV, so much so that I don't really bother now and have to go online to look for them which is very time consuming. I have not noticed any speed difference since it was removed, so I am not sure why it was removed. Could you not just put an option so people can decide whether they want it or not. It used to be really great to go into a series and see the new missing episodes or see that it hadn't been released yet. I really, really miss the automatic function.1 point

I like the idea, would be a useful and fun addition. I just don't think the old paper weight of a GFX card that i have in the server would be able to handle it and transcoding at the same time. It would require a beefy server, mobile phones are fast because the AI stuff usually happens in the cloud and as Emby is a personal computer i personally don't think cloud based AI would be fit well. If some Google, ChatGPT integration is made then it should warn in large letters that the data is shared and not private! Other than that i as said like the idea.0 points
