Nobody has violated the Forum Rules. Nobody will be banned. People are free to express their opinions as long as the rules are obeyed. So far, you are closer to a ban than any of the others who have commented above. (I don't mean close though - just closer) As said above already, we use official German language - i.e. no '*' in any of the German translations. There is nothing to discuss in this regard.3 points

It seems 4.9.2.5 fixes the slowness problem so far. the usual start sync looks fast again on my clients. I will test some repair syncs later.2 points

@@Luke stated in a previous post (https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/49933-replaygain-music-support/) adding support for this could easily be done for at least the theater client seeing as the player used already supports replaygain. I'm making this feature request in hopes that this support is added, as I have no dev experience myself1 point

Built for server 4.8.11 + TV&Movie Theme Provider Plugin Overview TV&Movie Theme Provider automatically locates, downloads, or extracts theme music for Movies and TV Series in your Emby library. It integrates multiple free and legal providers — Archive.org, TelevisionTunes, MixKit, and BBC Rewind — with an optional local FFmpeg extractor for generating clean intro/outro MP3 clips directly from your media. The plugin runs as a scheduled Emby task and provides a full Dashboard configuration page featuring live log output, WebSocket updates, and library scan statistics. Step-by-Step Operation Library Scan The scheduled task queries the Emby library through ILibraryManager. TV Series are processed first by default; Movies optionally included. Theme Detection For each item, the plugin searches theme sources in order: Archive.org TelevisionTunes.co.uk MixKit.co BBC Rewind (musicmemories.bbcrewind.co.uk) Download or Extraction If no theme is found online, FFmpeg extracts 45 seconds of audio from the start or end of the video. The extraction uses: bash -t 45 -af silenceremove=start_periods=1:start_threshold=-40dB ensuring silence is trimmed. Storage Themes can be saved in the media’s folder or a cache directory, based on user settings. Fingerprint & Metadata Each successful theme creates a theme_meta.json with SHA-256 fingerprint, provider, licence, and timestamp. Dashboard Feedback A WebSocket channel TVThemeProvider streams progress messages to the dashboard page (tvthemeprovider.html / .js). Users see real-time status, provider name, progress bar, and log output. Process Flow flowchart TD A[Start Task] --> B[Load Plugin Config] B --> C[Query Library (Series / Movies)] C --> D{Existing Theme?} D -->|Yes| E[Skip] D -->|No| F[Try Providers<br>Archive→TelevisionTunes→MixKit→BBC Rewind] F -->|Found| G[Save MP3 + JSON Metadata] F -->|Not Found| H[Extract with FFmpeg<br>Trim Silence 45 s] H --> I[Compute Fingerprint] G --> I I --> J[Broadcast via WebSocket] J --> K[Next Item] K --> L[Complete + Summary] Conclusion The TVThemeProvider Plugin is a complete, legally-safe theme music engine for Emby. It automatically retrieves or extracts high-quality theme MP3s, maintains consistent metadata, and keeps you informed in real time via a responsive dashboard. With BBC Rewind support and WebSocket integration, this plugin enriches your media library MediaBrowser.Plugins.TVThemeProvider.dll MixKit and BBC Rewind have been removed , MixKit is unauthorised and contains samples anyway so is not valid, BBC Rewind have removed the media and discontinued but left their api up, so 404's galore. That one is a shame Fixed tv Series extractions and added code to honour intro markers, although I havent tested it yet. Im away for the week now, so I have posted it anyway, im sure you ll let me know if it aint working MediaBrowser.Plugins.TVThemeProvider.1.0.0.1.zip1 point

Hi, Just upgraded to 4.9.1.80. I have noticed the Live TV --> Recordings view is now seasons view rather than the old flat episode view. How can this be changed back? As Live TV is recorded and can be out of order, and I keep the episodes relatively clean, it was much easier to find episodes in the old view, particularly when lots of different series are recorded with only 1-2 episodes each. I have had a look around and can't find an obvious method. Thanks1 point

Yeah using windows. Ive done that and it has come back with my public ip and google dns. Next step once it actually works will definitely be to try and get my registrar to update that ip automatically. I dont see any option on Metanames website to do that but if I have to do it manually im not gonna lose sleep over it. Ill have to renew the ssl cert anyway so really its water off a ducks back.1 point
-
@LessajHoly cow it works! I was able to see the open port on Canyouseeme.org. In your next step I could see the certificate validation had the correct common name however I couldn't quite understand what you meant with nslookup (Again im really new to all this so it probably seems dumb). I logged into my domain registrar and pointed the domain to my public IP and hey presto it just started working! Thank you so much! Now to see if it can be accessed outside of my network.1 point

I've started seeing the exact same issue. On a side note, flac files play fine going through android auto, without using a VPN. Using my phone on its own, with mobile data causes an instant crash.1 point

I did some database repairs and the usual startup syncs, from my feeling the beta server line 4.9.2.x is still with the latest one abit slower than the previous 4.9.1.x servers. I guess there will come more changes in the server in the near future....1 point

Ok , I see it's all my fault, I've entered the wrong type in the part that extracts for tvshows, it's currently trying to extract from the TV show, not the episode, so there is actually no media at top level. I will fix it when I have chance, might be next weekend now. Thanks for reporting1 point

Just came here because I noticed the icon in the menubar when running the Apple Silicon app. Thanks for doing that. Nice to have one of the remaining non-native apps finally taken care of. Next on the wish list: a properly certified app so I don't have to jump through security hoops to get macOS to run it, and a proper icon that doesn't look pixelated (and native for the new Tahoe icon requirements).1 point

Is there a specific reason why you're replacing all images every time instead of just looking for missing images? Because just... not doing that, would seem like the easiest fix?1 point

Hi. We monitor all feature requests and have to weigh the interest each of them has against many factors including our resources. This request is something that we probably will get to but, to put it in context, it has 8 people supporting it so far so it isn't high on the list of things we feel a large portion of the user base wants right now. We do not necessarily respond in every FR topic but we definitely read and monitor every one of them. Thanks.1 point

Fair enough i suppose Ok, i will consider getting a chrome cast Just note, that i personally hate google, and i dont trust them around privacy at all I would want the google chrome cast to be blocked from 'internet' access - as they might try to send data back to their own servers about my usage I dont mind the nice pictures that google puts on one screen DLNA was around way before the invention of the google chrome cast, something most people dont know about - i like it I will try and see if this Android box i have that is connected to my TV set can be used instead for now Thanks for your time1 point

@LukeOf course it's not something that a virtual tv plugin should worry about. I am trying to mitigate this problem as a learning exercise. It's a problem similar to the lack of skip ahead in Emby clients when playing EPG programs. That problem has now been solved. This time the problem is buffer stalls in IPTV, caused by HLS. It's both instructive and fun to resolve problems like this. And in this case the solution is entertaining because after the fix, HLS will play IPTV content without interruptions. I know that I probably ask you more questions than most users, and as such become annoying at times. I apologize and hope that my attention to Emby is a complement to you. I hope also that you have noticed that I have progressed from the time that you first gave me the virtualTVexample code. You have done well teaching me and you have my gratitude. Vic1 point

I thought there might be a coding bug that limits the shuffle from working and posted the .js code for someone to look at a year ago. I have no idea if this is causing the problem. Did anyone review this posting? https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/131166-shuffling-a-large-playlist-wont-select-songs-later-in-the-playlist/#comment-13772821 point

The app advertises 50% off, but shows $6.99, even when I click purchase. I must be missing something; the app isn't going to be $14 normally, right?1 point

This was a change introduced w/ the v4.9.1.80 stable server release... please weigh in. Live TV --> Recordings view changed with v4.9.1.80 - How to change back1 point

OK this TV dates back to at least 2013. Unfortunately I'm not sure what the issue is, and I would probably need a sharp of a similar age in order to get the bottom of it. Maybe there are some older versions of the dlna/upnp protocols that we're not supporting, but then again I have a 2014 Samsung that I do test dlna with pretty frequently. There could also be some Sharp-specific considerations which we don't know until we actually get our hands on one ourselves. So now that you've discovered using chromecast instead, why not just do that? It is a much more modern protocol.1 point

It has been figured out meanwhile. It's planned for the future Also planned.1 point

Small suggestion: you could insert logic between online sources check and FFmpeg 45s extract to check for IntroSkip markers - if found, FFmpeg extract from that time onwards as that part is extremely likely to contain music theme, if not, proceed to regular 45s (or whatever) extract.1 point
-
Not tested that, so truthfully - no idea. Theory though, it might. It reads movies and TV shows listed in the library, not necessarily valid media containers.1 point

I just went into the Google Play Store on my Shield and searched for "Ebook reader" and something like a dozen came up. I just picked the first couple. I also have "FX Media Player" which I did not get lately as it has a nice and easy to use interface for finding and editing files of many sorts. Unfortunately "FX Media Player" does not work for PDFs but Emby seems to think it does as it is the only reader that Emby seems to think I have but I also have "TV PDF Viewer" and I cannot make Emby even try to use that one. It seems that once Emby makes a choice it will not even try another app even though the first choice does not work at all. In the Play Store I see several dozen PDF readers and a few dozen more ebook readers. "TV ePUB Viewer is the last one I tried. So far every one I have tried, except FX Media Player, works as a stand alone player but Emby only tries to call FX Media Player and I cannot find how to change that to one of the programs that work. @LukeWould you please recommend a PDF/Epub reader that works on the shield and with Emby.1 point

Fixed Cause: Permissions on the Emby cache subfolders (/config/cache/fanart-movies, /config/cache/tmdb-movies2, /config/cache/omdb, /config/cache/tvdb-movies, etc.) were inconsistent. Some folders/files were owned by bin:bin with restrictive permissions, which prevented the container from writing new thumbnails and caused repeated “Access denied” exceptions. Fix: Ensured all cache subfolders were owned by root and fully writable: docker exec -it EmbyServer sh -c 'chown -R 0:0 /config/cache && chmod -R 777 /config/cache' Restarted the Emby container. Tested poster search — thumbnails now display correctly and no “Access denied” errors occur.1 point

The relevancy of recommendations is inherently very limited if you have a small collection. "Just ignore it" isn't valid justification for a feature that does not add value. It clutters the UI. Such features should be optional. A toggle to disable this would be so trivial to implement that there is really no excuse. People want to turn it off, so why not let them?1 point

The desktop app shows the full title if you hover with the mouse. There is simple CSS to put in the server settings to make the web app show the full title: /*---- wrap card text - long movie names etc ----*/ div.cardText {white-space: pre-wrap;} Paul1 point

Small hint: a lot of the German language that you’d most probably deem “natural evolved” (and is in Duden nowadays) is actually not evolved, but brought in artificially (words like Verfasser, Jahrhundert, Landstraße, Briefwechsel, Staatsmann, Anschrift, Rückblick, Leitbild, Umwelt, Abteil -- all coined by humans of an organisation with an “agenda”, in the 18th centrury, and established. They also wanted to replace Mumie by Dörrleiche, but that didn’t catch). When reading your rather emotional texts, I have doubt that your drive on this topic is “being neutral”, really.0 points

emby team is working really hard on this, apple tv is a new streaming device and the emby team needs a little time to get it working, plus no too many people owns apple tv0 points

Groups with large staff who are paid. Apple TV is so bad that the Jellyfin team abandoned their client because of how difficult it was to work with. It's not a cop out, it's just reality that the Apple TV is garbage.0 points

The hold up is the Apple TV is a piece of crap that is not friendly to programmers who attempt to use it for playing stuff outside of the Apple ecosystem. There is a reason Android devices are so much easier to use.0 points
