  1. App.emby.media loads hosted Web app (4.9.2.3) from Emby's servers which is always a bit ahead in features compared to local Web app (4.9.1.35/4.8.11.0) that comes bundled with your servers; in this particular scenario, once server version 4.9.2.3 is released you'll see exact same behavior/features in local Web app as you're seeing now in hosted Web app using app.emby.media. Is actually pretty old service (and field in the UI), AFAIK discontinued though legacy listings still exist; don't think it's been used by Emby in a quite a long time

  2. On another note, If it wasn't for MKVToolNix GUI, VideoProc and FileBot to cut/shrink and rename properly I'd be lost and I would curl up in a ball and cry, having to replace what I couldn't backup or was stupid enough not too, you kinda get broke fast when it's up to 800 TB gets Pricey and doing the math that'd be almost 30k to set up A decent Raid system for what I have, Now you know why I'll never do one, I'd rather get a New Truck!! And thanks to everyone that helped out, It was extremely helpful Much Appreciated. @Luke@GrimReaper@Gilgamesh_48@Neminem Beef.

  3. I mentioned it in another thread, but thought I'd put it here since this looks like a new section--just for posterity. Would like to have a bulk meta data editor function. For example, if I have 750 videos whose producing studio is the same, I want to select those videos and apply the name of the studio to those videos. Similarly, if there is a custom tag I want to apply to a subset of those movies, I want to be able to select them in bulk and apply the tag to those videos (instead of selecting them one by one).

  5. Its been made clear that the ATV Emby app is no longer being developed. I don't really like this for the obvious reason - it feels like running a phone app on my tv. All the elements, navigation, dialog boxes, the whole UX flow is not designed for a device with a remote. I understand the devs have made the decision and that dev resources are finite. What is the plan? If the ATV app is not getting updates, in multipe topics the advice is to try the Android app instead. Why is it still in the store and the default app installed? 99% of people will not visit forums or even know there's an alternative. Is the final plan going to be to use the current Android app everywhere? My ideal solution - I'd prefer to have a unified app with a UX written in html that is responsive and can adapt to screen res and device capabilities (eg touch, remote etc). For all I know this may be the plan. And please give an estimated timeline. Thank you.

  6. Hey Everyone, I've been a long time Emby user, and have used many different icons/images over the years to try to add my own custom look to my server. I've had sets I've used but they never really felt like they were a 'set' or looked like they all looked/worked together having a common look and feel. I eventually a few weeks ago tried the latest 'Fad' of creating images from text using A.I. with some success, but results were inconsistent, and many of the sites or apps didn't easily support creating image sets, more 1 or 2 images, or you can pay a fortune for something I may not want to use again. Soooo....., I finally decided to just start from scratch and sit down and design my own images for my library using Adobe Photoshop. Here I've tried to create a premium look, that has a consistent look and feel, and I always think ahead to what these will actually look like on a TV screen. Which I must say, they look sharp!! You'll also notice, I had the afterthought of making them have an iPad feel to them, which turned out to really finish them off. I've attached my PNG images for an idea of what I've created, and included all PSD files to match, plus empty template, font and images. Please use and enjoy, change as needed, and definitely come back and show me what you've done with my template. Enjoy. All files can be download from my Emby folder of my Google Drive. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-NI9FnxDDqRnkOzRaPEfgx_elnuqctYI/view?usp=sharing

  7. Wondering if it would be possible to get this information displayed in paragraph form properly? I assume this is coming from TMDB and it displays nicely over there, but in Emby (all apps I've tested so far), it looks like someone just puked up a wall of text. This is from TMDB vs what Emby displays

  8. Yes the code is changing in online app and beta server, so will assume other clients will change also with "white-space: pre-wrap" or equivalent. OT: Zapit comes from TVDB but it obsolete now as the urls redirect to https://www.newsnationnow.com/newsnation-tv-schedule/ now. So they can probably be removed. @Luke Zap2it - Wikipedia @Lukelooks that they are on Gracenote's domain now. So the code needs updated data-formatstring="https://tvlistings.zap2it.com/overview.html?programSeriesId={0}" to data-formatstring="https://tvlistings.gracenote.com/overview-affiliates.html?programSeriesId={0}"

  10. I recently bought an XREAL Beam Pro to watch videos with my AR glasses. When connected, the glass device acts like an external monitor. I can open and use apps solely within my view in the glasses; for example, I can open Microsoft Edge and browse the web into the glass. However, as we all know, when I use the Emby Android App to play video, it will auto display content on the external monitor while blacking out the phone screen. This means that when I open Emby in the glasses and start playing a video, it doesn't behave like a normal app. Instead, because the glasses are treated as an external display, the video playback completely takes over my entire field of view. To put it another way, it's like I could originally use apps within my glasses, similar to an Apple Vision Pro. However, Emby forces video playback onto an external display, which causes the video content to completely take over my entire field of view (because Emby plays it in full screen on the external display). I can't access any of the playback controls, so I'm unable to pause or do anything else.

  11. I know the answer to this is probably going to be no..... ...but.... A standalone music player for iOS would be very useful. Trying to get the wife to use the full client for music is just not happening. Something that was simple and intuative and quick and easy to use would be killer, something like spotify. The simpler the app is to use, the better. If all else fails, I have a project that's on the back burner that was an iOS music player for subsonic, but I could always target emby as well. It had an spotify a-like interface. Screenshot from as far as I got with the UI, it was playing back music from the server.

  12. Maybe you just didn't pay particular attention to it, it's been present for TV shows since like forever. I reckon it'll eventually get removed.

  13. Ya, I thought Bulky editor would not unlock a tag (channel name, number, etc) when you edit it en mass. You have to also relock it. As usual, me working off assumptions was the issue

  14. I think Ya, I think this is just user error. If Bulky unlocks on edits then I just needed to lock them all last. Am testing that out now.

  16. Now that's really odd. I've been just going into http://10.0.0.187:8096/web/index.html#!/item?id=446532&serverId=xxxxxxxxxx However, if I go to https://app.emby.media/#!/item?id=446532&serverId=xxxxxxxxxxxxxx Then I get it displayed properly. Looking at the differences, app.emby.media says it's web version 4.9.2.3, but going directly to my IP address says web version 4.9.1.35

  17. I'm viewing the entry via app.emby.media (the webapp). My local server is on 4.8.11.0 though. I can't imagine this feature being a bug of transitioning to the beta channel but we'll have to let the devs/admins confirm that.

  19. Hi @LukeThanks for getting back to me. I did a quick search and found that this particular mac does not have any av1 support. But still interesting to see that the videos play fine in VLC player and EMBY web interface. Thanks for fixing this issue! I assume this fix will also be pushed to the Android app, as they both have the same issue when playing the videos? Let me wait for the update and get back to you with an update then. Any estimate when this fix is ready for deployment? Thanks @pwhodges for the additional information, appreciated.

  20. Two things that makes the app feel like a phone app. 1. It does not show the user select screen like the old android tv app. 2. When you want to exit the app and press the "back" button on the shield remote it just minimize the app, while the Android TV app actually exit so when you open it again it shows the select user dialogue window. In the new version you have to go up and select the menu and go down to exit to quit the app. And also, why is it showing me a sidebar menu when pressing the back button? Two things that's been pointed out for a long time but no progress.

  22. To close this topic out I have created separate folders for remux and standard and added them both to a single library but restricted access to the remux folder per user. Users that can see both folders have the movie selectable via the version dropdown.

  24. Still no joy using Emby on the PC. The only place to clear cache is the browser as the Emby client runs in the browser. But it did no good. However, I am now convinced it is indeed the browser that's the oriole, as suggested. Another computer with Win 10 instead of Win 11, works fine. I need to hook up another Win 11 PC and test ' and I forgot to try and different browser so I'll do that too. Thanks @yocker

  29. Hey, it sends the IMDB IDs of the missing items in the collection to my server. Where I stores them so that you can see which items you do not have. Other people will not be able to see what those items are. I've thought about making this optional but no one has requested it. If it's a stopper for you I can look into that. The plugin does not access your Emby API key or anything like that and I don't even store the IP of your server.

  30. Today's spotlight explores the creative mind of some of our users! These setups that aren’t necessarily massive or minimal but smart, deliberate builds that strike a balance between performance, usability, and cost. These Emby users have built systems that “just work” — whether for remote family sharing, mobile flexibility, or simply organizing a growing collection. User 1: A Family-Centered Build with Emby at the Core OS: Ubuntu Server 22.04 CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G (iGPU used for transcoding) RAM: 32GB DDR4 Storage: 4×8TB HDD in SnapRAID 1TB Samsung NVMe for metadata and cache Clients: Fire TV 4K, Chromecast with Google TV, iPads, web browser Network: TailScale for remote access to extended family This user’s primary motivation? A simplified content experience for family. Emby’s ease of access makes remote media sharing reliable and user-friendly. User 2: The Portable Plex-to-Emby Convert OS: Windows 11 Pro Laptop Host: Lenovo Legion 5 Pro (Ryzen 7 6800H, RTX 3070, 32GB RAM) External Storage: 20TB RAID 0 in external USB-C enclosure Clients: Android tablet, MacBook Air, hotel Smart TVs (via Chromecast) Use Case: Frequent traveler with offline-first workflows This portable setup is a great example of Emby working for this users needs on the go from in-flight binge sessions to hotel-room streaming. User 3: A Clean, Quiet, All-SSD Living Room Build OS: Unraid CPU: Intel i3-12100 (Quick Sync) RAM: 16GB Storage: 2×2TB NVMe SSDs (movies & metadata) 2×4TB SATA SSDs (TV and music) Clients: LG OLED (native app), Android phone, Shield Pro Use Case: No spinning disks, no noise — sleek and silent HTPC This build proves that a quiet, modern, and low-watt server can still deliver a premium media experience. 32. To be fair the Debian installer they already have is enough to get you up and running with Emby running native, it just needs a tiny bit of simple linux level admin to get it going. My posts here are just about helping Emby/Ugreen make that installation process even simpler, especially for those not familiar with Linux admin. But I've had Emby up and running natively now on UGreenfor over a month, running a lot quieter and cheaper than my old rack mounted Ubuntu server.

  33. Seems to be at the bottom of the dev's list of priorities. I'm still using the Swagger admin API key. To find the key, navigate to Settings -> Dashboard. At the bottom of the Dashboard page (not the menu bar), you will find a link "API". That link contains the API key that Swagger uses. Copy and paste.

  38. I've described in more detail in previous threads, but its a phone UI and doesn't fit the 10ft experience on a TV, eg the way modal dialogs are shown. Transitions between screens seem slower and with more jank. I've had both running and the ATV app seems to make better use of screen space. is this going to be a 3rd app with a new design? any more news?

  40. Is there plans on the roadmap for OpenID. I have searched but not found any indication this is in development. With many admins taking up SSO through Authelia or Authentik to enhance security it would be great for Emby to support it. One of the easier open standards is OpenID which the aforementioned support. Users could continue to use LDAP if they wish while others can use the arguably better SSO experience.

  42. Emby Premier for a long while but finally converted from Plex a few months ago. Really missing this from Plex. My thought is that it would pull on demand, so as not to impact the database. It would be great for someone from the Emby team to weigh in here. They've agreed it would be a good addition both here and some other threads, but no movement or engagement on it in the last 7 years. Thank you!

  43. Just started fooling around with Microsoft CoPilot Image Creator because I wanted some icons for my playlists (hated how the generated default square image distorted 2:3 posters). It isn't perfect but it's pretty freakin' awesome IMHO. By default it creates square icons which is exactly what I wanted anyway, not sure if you can change that. The only thing it has problems with is generating text inside of the images it creates. So if you don't want/need text it's super easy. If you want text it might take some extra time/tries. 47. Hi, there is nothing you need to do to prevent it. Emby apps will always direct play whenever possible. You can reduce the likelihood of transcoding by: Using an installed Emby app rather than the browser (windows, android, iOS, etc) Using external text based subtitles such as .srt files
