Feature Request: Have User Groups and all settings applied at the Group Level That way you can just assign users to the appropriate Group and all settings will be inheritated.2 points

@Luke@softworkz But honestly, the database improvements over the last 2 or 3 betas have been enormous! Library scan times seem to have halved (is it scanning two or three libraries at once, depending on CPU utilisation?) and the page loading is now a lot more fluid... I like it a lot, thanks for that!2 points

Upgraded to latest DSM and then to Emby Version 4.8.11.0 and that seems to have fixed it! I think I was avoiding the DSM upgrade because it removes hardware encoding on the NAS to improve efficiency and performance, but I think I'll be able to live with that. Overall I'm finding Emby much easier to use than Plex, so thanks for everyone's suggestions and help and hopefully I won't have any more issues!2 points

Why would it ask you for a PIN if you've entered user/password? You've already identified yourself. It'll ask you for a PIN every subsequent time going forward, if you've clicked Yes there., as long as you remain signed in.2 points

Just saying "it's significantly better" does not help any one understand what is actually better about it so the new universal app can be improved. Please explain what precisely you like better about the Android TV app. Personally i don't find that much difference any more and ditched the Android TV app some time ago.2 points

Just want to confirm that the developer has updated the latest IPTVBoss beta (3.9.92) to include both tags in the epg xml (live & new), which allows emby to properly pick up 'live' events with the new recordings only setting.2 points

I would like to allow users to reset their passwords via a time-limited reset link sent to their email, similar to how Ombi does this. Each user can have an email address linked, and the server has SMTP details set; users can then press 'reset password' and enter an email to have a link sent to said email (assuming they entered a valid one and its linked a user) which takes them to a password reset page where they can enter and confirm a new password. Only if any of this isn't setup correctly does it request you contact the admin instead. I've had a few users somewhat frequently forgetting their passwords, especially when they don't use emby regularly. It would be nice to have a way for them to resolve this themselves. Currently the 'reset password' link on Emby just tells you to contact the admin (presumably it's more functional with connect users? Don't know, I don't use connect) and it involves manually resetting their password for them to something fairly complex, sending that password to them via text/email (neither of which I'm comfortable with, I just just don't have better options most of the time), then hoping/pestering them to change it to something only they know. It's far more of a hassle than it needs to be and rather insecure.1 point

Hey Luke I just installed that plugin and from my testing it appears to be working. I assume you guys just replaced empty dates with the date of ingest? Seems like a good solution to keep that from messing up dates. I'm able to see all episodes and play them, I've also done some spot checks to ensure there was no unforeseen side effects on other podcasts. So far nothing but good to report here, so thanks for this.1 point

I'm not sure: There's a reason why you didn't name Vista and Win 8. There have always been more and less likeable versions, and I think while Win 10 wasn't one of the worst ones, Win 11 is clearly the best Windows since 7. As for the bug: For the next beta of the Window app, we will update WindowsAppSDK. It's well possible that it gets fixed this way, even though we still haven't figured out the condition under which it happens...1 point

Hi, apologies for the delay. I can reproduce. We are working on getting this resolved. Thanks.1 point

Hi Luke, thanks for asking. Here is a thing, it’s suddenly started working few days ago. Now I’m wondering if it’s something strange in my environment that just cannot figure out….1 point

Hi, the best way to help is to be ready to provide feedback on the beta channel as soon as we have this in. Thanks !1 point

You've been stuck on that question for 2 years, refusing to budge, and haven't come up with or been given a better solution. Stop stalling, implement the common solution users are familiar with and have asked for over and over again, and if something better eventually comes along adapt. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perfect_is_the_enemy_of_good1 point

Sorry have not had time to test this out, maybe in the next few weeks..1 point

OK we'll be releasing an app update any day now. Please let us know if you still see it with that. Thanks.1 point

Then integrate it into core code. Or create a more dynamic system that can use whatever notification platform/plugins are available on the given system, falling back to a simple 'contact your admin' popup as it does now. Just give us SOMETHING to work with. For years all we've gotten is "It won't work for every singe usecase so nobody gets to have any useful options at all" and that sucks.1 point

That's an optional plug-in that requires configuration. Not something we can count on for a critical feature.1 point

On the odd chance you're not a troll: these are technical support forums for Emby software (server and apps). You might be better trying your luck on some other site(s).1 point

+1. This FR could also tie in with another FR I had requested: If there were user groups and settings could be managed for all users within that group, it would nullify my request I guess.1 point

Basically, I'm trying to set up a python script which looks at my library and watchlist and makes reccoemndations by adding stub files to a Reccoemndations library I've made up. I pretty much want the series screen to look like normal with the outline/plot, but then on the expanded view include some text on why I might like it, based off how it was found/what AI thinks. Pictures for reference.1 point

Thanks that was my issue. It did resolve after the Emby update of the Windows app. But you are also right at the same time. I had all transcoding turned off.. I believe this issue is now solved1 point

Yes I figured I'd have to do it eventually (Remove the old location) but I was trying to avoid it, It's a lot of data to do, as for Sonarr I never really liked it, I use to run it a long time ago but it also takes a long time to scan especially when you have as much as I do ATM (3/4 of a Peta), but Gotta bite the bullet some times, I appreciate all the feedback from everyone. Thanks again.1 point

I was given this Android app for a program to control the plugin with an Android phone. It can also end current running streams, send messages to users and shows a list of current users watching a video and if they are direct playing or transcoding plus reason for transcoding. It's rather ugly and simple but should work well as a template for some one to continue working on it. I have no experience with Android development so i can't help with it at all. All i have done is try and compile it in Android Studio and run the app and it seems to work. Again, i can't help with it as i have no experience with Android development. If anyone want to work on it you are free to just make it your own. You can even change the plugin it self if you want to add stuff to enhance the app. WatchingEye.apk WatchingEye.zip1 point

That kind of makes sense. I guess that, even my old age, my fast twitch muscles must still be firing quite well if I can beat 300ms reaction when pushing a button. Maybe I should go on Jeopardy as they say that button pressing speed is more important than knowledge.1 point

@LukeThanks, the information does help. When I was trying to use mkvpropedit from a command prompt I knew that I was trying to change the properties on the file itself, and had eliminated Emby from the issue while doing that. I was also trying to use the Powershell script on a separate drive from where my recordings are kept so I would not wipe anything out, since I have only done limited stuff with Powershell at work. I could change the properties manually to set the descriptions to be correct, but it is too many files and I am not going to worry about it.1 point

Author and File Format options are basic necessities for just any eBook collection! Series would follow pretty closely for anyone who collects books in a Series (which is very common). I'm really confused as to how the Book Library has existed as an option for as long as it has without even an Author option, or functional Metadata Downloaders. I tried migrating to Emby from PLEX many many years ago because I wanted my eBook accessible remotely on the same Media Server as my Movies and TV Shows, but I decided not to stick with it because it wasn't very functional. I transitioned to eBook reading in 2010 and haven't looked back, but have always been disappointed with eBooks exclusion from media center/managers. Books are the OG Media! Thanks to whomever is finally getting some work done on this project. I've reinstalled Emby from scratch and am playing with it again, but the Metadata system still needs some very simple things addressed. So I'm not all in yet.1 point

Hi Vic, This is the only thing I have seen since the update which I am not sure about, I guess it could have happened before the update I just didn't test long enough. I am using the quick channel setup. I have kept everything the same .. nothing is customized. Seems all the media rotates correctly ..starts and resumes perfect. This is something I have seen a few times and not sure if its on my end or if anyone else has seen this too?1 point

Which screen do you mean where the library display settings kick you out? You mean the "grid" and the display settings there? Or do you mean the main display settings area of the app? Not really a list of things to change. A list of things you want. Then some things you find that you dont want. That would help us understand the end user. We have some things coming that will address the beautiful aspect. They should be coming in the next few weeks or so. We also have other things planned and in the works. I am part of the Roku development team at Emby. I feel like we shouldn't need a UI architect to tell us what changes would help if they never use the app. Unless it was an app for UI architects to watch media with their friends. We want real users with real normal lives to give us their unbiased opinion of the app. What exactly they find annoying, and how much so, and why we aren't on the ball fixing it. Why isn't it fixed already? And just hammer us. Then as other users pile on believe me it causes valuable traction here that will move your issue higher and you will find it much better here as far as how we react to public opinion. When the tide turns you need to move with it. We will move with it. What do you think in the app could be done more efficiently? I mean honestly. If you could directly communicate with the very people who help maintain and code the app and could tell them something what would it be. That is why we are asking seriously what would you like to see? On the other side, I am also very curious what users do not like to see in the app and do not want to see in our app. Otherwise we usually do not get users vocal enough to really tell us like it is. You do not have to be afraid to pull punches or try to hide the bad news. Give it to us straight. It doesn't suck. Okay. We can start there. It is good. It does the job. Okay those are also good things to hear. But they don't really tell you the user is impressed or loving what you are doing. What would you love to see in the app? If you had like 3 wishes we can start there. That is the difference between the other guys and us. Here we actually read and will respond to your posts. We feel the vibe. Understand you. Possibly. But at least we are here to get to the bottom of what you wanted to achieve by making this post. I feel the post is constructive and can lead to good things. You just have to let us know how you really feel. Thanks. Note: We also won't remove your posts and try to act like everything is okay when it really isn't. We will actually tell you like it really is. In my mind, the app could be better. There are things we could do better. It is quite black alot of the time. There are no themes yet. There are some areas where there is a learning curve. I agree. This is why we need real users to give us the unbiased opinions to really know. On the show "Silicon Valley" Richard tests his Pied Piper chat app with other developers and they don't find many flaws. They say it is really good. But he is Beta testing it with other developers. Those people will never really give you valuable input. Then they push the app out and everyone immediately hates it because they forgot to include a pool of real users in their testing. You need real users who find real issues/bugs and have real features they miss to improve the product.1 point

for my specific use case? yes, since i only need to hook it for SVP (my main purpose and my sole reason why i still use the old emby-theater instead emby app for windows) but for others who knows? also some other param which might useful is --ordered-chapters=yes (since i do think some people have this kind of media, and current emby didn't support it) --script=xxxx (for more advanced usage) documentation : https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv/blob/master/DOCS/man/options.rst1 point

@chef @Cheesegeezer Another amazing production is about to be brought to you from devs - Cheesegeezer - I have started a new theme to bring to the masses. I am a long way off completion however we can continue to update you on the progress. The layouts are about 80% complete and once completed we can start to work on the code behind. We are interested in a closed group of testers when the time comes. I would just like to say that this was originally designed for Emby WMC back in 2014 and was just release there when M$ ditched support for WMC and the project died. @shaefurr did an amazing job with the concept artwork for me to work with back then, and this theme pays homage to him. So with out further ado... here's some of the layouts that are now coded. I apoligize for my late reply, I ran this command and I am now able to grant "read" and "write" access to the home folder with all its subfolders: setfacl -m user:emby:rxw /home/myusername or to grant "read only" access to specific folders: setfacl -m user:emby:rx /home/myusername/Music setfacl -m user:emby:rx /home/myusername/Videos setfacl -m user:emby:rx /home/myusername/Pictures Since Live TV must be read and written, then it's neccesary to grant "read" and "write" permissions: setfacl -m user:emby:rxw /home/myusername/LiveTV1 point
